There are so many memories there. My friends and I used to love to go to Murphy's to see Oscar the fish. Take pictures in the black and white photo booth and them go up stairs and check out the 45 records.

Before the mall, there was Katy Lake. I was too young to have fished there, but I remember that they drained it to build the mall. Some may not know that the spring that fed the lake is still there but piped off so the place doesn't flood. It was a BIG deal when the mall opened and I used to ride my bike there and hung out by the radio station.

I heard about that lake. I guess that is why there are those big "underground tunnels" over by the railroad tracks next to the old theater. AHH! the radio station!! Yes I forgot about that. We use to watch the dj through the big window. I kinda remember having to go down some stairs or something. Was there a big water fountain with pretty colored lights? could me worng.

I think that water fountain was right outside of Sears, in the outdoor mall part. Used to get black light posters and incense at Spencers Gifts and eat drink margaritas at El Chico. Oh, it's also where I was about to join the Air Force.
Went there about 15 years ago, when it was Fort Worth Towncenter, and it was not a very safe place to be alone at.

We used to go to El Chico in the mid-60's, then walk the mall. The fountains are my clearest memories of the center, lots of flowers, lights at night. The book store on the west end of the mall was a favorite of mine. I understand that the mall was designed by Lawrence Halprin, famous landscape architect from San Francisco, and was one of the first "malls" in the country. Pretty monumental! I was there last week and find that it's no longer called "Seminary south". It's a vague reminder of what was once pretty wonderful!

Haha! I fell in the fountain once when I was 4. For a while our family went to El Chico once a week. For those that havent seen it in the last few years it is a sight to see. Town Center died a slow death, and as the Mexican immigrant population went up in southside someone had the bright idea to make it the premier place to hang for those families. Now it's called La Gran Plaza and the parking lots look like Christmas time at other malls but there they are full to the brim almost all year!

Great memories! We used to go to Sears and get candy from the little cart in the middle of the store. It was a great place to go on the weekend. I grew up on the westside and a lot has changed. It still does a great business, but it helps now if you can speak spanish.

I used to love the fountains especially the cascading one near Stripling Cox. Murphy's had a diner in the back. A neighbor used to be wiatress there. Sear's also had a restaurant. Remember eating a nasty tuna sandwich there. Buddie's was the grocery store.

This mall was closed-in many years ago and made into a traditional indoor mall and over the years has struggled to stay alive. It has been remodeled and revamped many times, each time it is revamped it becomes more and more like an indoor flea market catering to the hispanic and african american communities. I do not believe it qualifies as a mall anymore as a mall should cater to every community. I remember Seminary South Mall, I remember going to the soda fountain in the basement of Woolworth's, Thom McAnn shoes. It did indeed used to be "the place to go" a very sad loss for Fort Worth..
