There are so many memories there. My friends and I used to love to go to Murphy's to see Oscar the fish. Take pictures in the black and white photo booth and them go up stairs and check out the 45 records.

Before the mall, there was Katy Lake. I was too young to have fished there, but I remember that they drained it to build the mall. Some may not know that the spring that fed the lake is still there but piped off so the place doesn't flood. It was a BIG deal when the mall opened and I used to ride my bike there and hung out by the radio station.

I heard about that lake. I guess that is why there are those big "underground tunnels" over by the railroad tracks next to the old theater. AHH! the radio station!! Yes I forgot about that. We use to watch the dj through the big window. I kinda remember having to go down some stairs or something. Was there a big water fountain with pretty colored lights? could me worng.

I think that water fountain was right outside of Sears, in the outdoor mall part. Used to get black light posters and incense at Spencers Gifts and eat drink margaritas at El Chico. Oh, it's also where I was about to join the Air Force. Went there about 15 years ago, when it was Fort Worth Towncenter, and it was not a very safe place to be alone at. |

Yes it was outside Sears! I loved Spencers Gifts. I also loved the arcade.

trinity park is still nice but the road construction and river clean up makes going through a bit dicey at times ! |

I have not been there in years. I can't wait to go back and visit. |

That is what I was thinking. |

We used to go to El Chico in the mid-60's, then walk the mall. The fountains are my clearest memories of the center, lots of flowers, lights at night. The book store on the west end of the mall was a favorite of mine. I understand that the mall was designed by Lawrence Halprin, famous landscape architect from San Francisco, and was one of the first "malls" in the country. Pretty monumental! I was there last week and find that it's no longer called "Seminary south". It's a vague reminder of what was once pretty wonderful!
