He's not the first one and he wont't be the last one that sleeps in their car on duty.

If you look at the crime rate in zip code 76123, considered the Far South Fort Worth, you will note the need for an intense law enforcement effort. I though that the Police Department was asleep not to notice that fact. I guess they were! Asleep that is..........

Rumor has it that the Police Officers are afraid of some of these Katrina refugee Gang Members in SouthWest Fort Worth. Maybe they are just sleeping!!!

They better wake up because that part of town is quickly becoming a "Ghetto"! Way to go Fort Worth PD!!!

Police are people who make mistakes just like everyone else. He shouldn't be sleeping in his car while on duty, but he is human.

Do you get paid to sleep on the job too? I doubt that you do so why should it be ok for a police officer?

It's not OK for a police officer to sleep on duty, just as it isn't for anyone else.

The officer should, and will, be disciplined appropriately I'm sure. What appropriate means depends on his/her background with the department, and other circumstances. I can assure you Chief Kneblick will deal with the matter appropriately.

As far as the statement that FWPD is afraid of gang members, or anyone for that matter, I'd offer the challenge to test the theory if you/they are man enough.

FWPD doesn't, for the most part, challenge bad guys to a fight, but they don't run from one either.

If the police don't *police* themselves , how can I trust them to police my neighborhood? I think it is outragous what we as American's accept from our police force. I am a believer in " you get what you pay for". I would triple their pay and tolerate zero from them.

It's not ok for police officers to fall asleep on duty, notice he as terminated for doing it. As has already been said before police officers are human just as you are, humans make mistakes. Just like every other career and job on the planet there are folks in police who do not do their job as it's meant to be done or make mistakes. Don't judge every police officer by the few who don't do their job.

In truth we are funding an election and welfare systems , and sending billions to foreign countries who burn our flag on TV to say thanks, So when they say they dont have the money needed to fund more police officers/stations, they are right, now the murdering thieves of the "katrina" incident who have not left because they fount a copless community to exploit. time to enstate a death penalty for being in a gang .PERIOD. I have stocked up weaponry for the outcome of this catastrophic election, and will not hesitate to defend my AMERICAN way of life. Gang bang in my neighborhood, and collect a 30 06 , and 308 lead points in your skull, commit a crime to my children in their school , and I will bring them to you.

I agree justaconcernedcitizen, Time to permanently remove these local terrorists called gang bangers from our society. Death may be excessive for just being in a gang, but commit a federal offence while "Bangin" , then do not pass go , do not go to jail, GO straight to the organ donor facility and let your wasted life benifit others more deserving.

Just a day before the chief of police called his home and his wife said "sorry he's asleep", the chief says " damn you mean he sleeps at home too" !

The real story is that he had been drinking and was off duty and on his way home. Which is wrong and why he was fired!! I would consider that policing the police, but that's just a view from the inside looking out. Idiots

If we were all perfect then we would not be writing these things. It takes a strong-willed person to work in this field and the hours we work. It takes a toll and you could lose your job if you call in or can't make it. What was he supposed to do call in "tired". No crap, we all get tired!!!! We stay in radio contact and it wouldn't bother me a bit if someone doses off on my shift. As long as others are doing their job and no one gets hurt. I check on my officers constantly! If you don't like it, then you get out here and do it!!!

It does take a strong willed person to be an officer but lose your job if you call in or can't make it...bullsh*t. Maybe you ought to apply at any other city than where your currently working because I have never heard of that and if it doesn't bother you that other officers are sleeping on the job then maybe you need to resign since it is our duty to serve and protect not sit and sleep.
