Big Daddy's is sure to be a Hit, However for now, they haven't got all the bugs worked out. My Wife and several of her girl friends have gone there for lunch, and were Late getting back to work because the Service was SO SLOW. Also several others who waited almost an hour before getting up and walking out, who were never served at all. I believe they could be a good place to eat, if you have a few hours to spend waiting for your food. Also, a couple people had their food delivered, only to find the food was COLD. They also left the place with intentions of never coming back. So, Big Daddy's may be a Nice place to eat, and may even have good food, but the Service has a Great Deal to be desired. And until that Problem is solved, don't waste your time.

Big Daddy's Is The BEST Thing to Happen in Live Oak, FL Since Wal-mart!!!! The Food is so Delicious! The Service is Wonderful. Of Course They Will Have A Few Things To Work Out When They First Open, Well, Evidently - They Worked Them Out, Because The Best Place To Eat Within a Fifty Mile or More Radius is Big Daddy's. The Food - The Service - The Atmosphere - Couldn't Be Better!!!! Thank You (Wainrights) For Opening The Best Restaurant in The World!!!! Martha Rae

We have eaten there twice since it opened and gotten sick both times. It took 4 days to recover the first time and 10 days the second time. The broiled chicken was not cooked well enough. No more trips to eat there. We are wondering if the national chain by the same name is aware of the opening here of a restaurant using their logo. News articles concerning this restaurant do not mention a franchise.
When, oh when, are we going to get a BUFFET style family oriented, American country cooking restaurant on the north end of town near the Walmart? A Barnhill's or Ole Times would be excellent, even a Golden Corral would help to fill the need. The only such decent places now require a 25 mile trip to Ole Times in Lake City or 50 mile trip to Ole Times in Valdosta. They are currently the best places to eat within a fifty mile or more radius of Big Daddy/s.
I am from Live Oak also, regardless of whatever city is listed under my name.

Hey Goldenrod, whats wrong with Sherell's lunchtime buffet next to the foot ball field?? I've eaten at Big Daddy's a few times and its always been fine for me, never sick, food was good, and it was clean, which is a big thing for me. Brown Lantern is still though, best place to eat in the LO and will be for a while to come I'm willing to bet.

Reply to Goat: Sheryl's is a NOON time buffet, not open all afternoon and evening. The location may be convenient for downtown workers to eat lunch, but not so for evening diners or for those in the I-10 junction area.

Stay away from buffet the only people that eat their are overweight and need to be on a diet.I seen a cook go to the bathroom not wash his hands after he did #2 then right back out and started serving again people were using the same utensil he had with who know what on it.Then it gets on your hands then in your food u become sick.Stay away from these places they use the food from others that don't finish and what isn't eaten that day they use the next day. Most larger cities are shutting Golden Corral because of their filty resturants and how they are preparing the food.I know they do good business but the Health Department is on their asses.

We ate at the Ole Times (buffet) in Valdosta yesterday. No one in my family is overweight. We know what to eat and how much of it to eat. Clean buffet restaurants have been our preferred eating places for many years. The reason being we can build our own salads and see the food before putting it on our plates. Their Health Department score card is always displayed by the cash register where a person can see it upon entering - before ordering or paying. The score yesterday was 100%, which is usual for them.

The buffet is a great place to lose weight or gain weight. The variety of healthy food there is as good as unhealty food. Please think before you speak or write anything. In Lake City Ole Times buffet has salads, low cal dressings, baked chicken, green beans, fresh squash, these foods are low carb..... daw wrote: <quoted text>Stay away from buffet the only people that eat their are overweight and need to be on a diet.I seen a cook go to the bathroom not wash his hands after he did #2 then right back out and started serving again people were using the same utensil he had with who know what on it.Then it gets on your hands then in your food u become sick.Stay away from these places they use the food from others that don't finish and what isn't eaten that day they use the next day. Most larger cities are shutting Golden Corral because of their filty resturants and how they are preparing the food.I know they do good business but the Health Department is on their asses.

My wife and I have gone to Big Daddy's once to date... Yes the service was questionable, yes I had problems getting hot french fries, and yes they were out of baked potatoes at the time but overall I give it a thumbs up for a restaurant in our area ( Live oak). The Wainwright Clan has put their heart and soul into this restaurant and I believe when all the kinks get worked out, Big Daddy's will be here for a long long time with great success. ... I also wonder about people who say that Wal-Mart is "The best thing that happened to Live Oak". I bet many small business owners that have gone under or are suffering financially would beg to differ.

I currently work there. the wainwrights are nothing but a bunch of money hungry people. Mr wainwright is extremely rude. they make the waitresses there tip us out to make up 4 them refusing to pay the others min. wage. they only pay 4$ an hour. B.D. does suck bc the management hasnt ever had restraunt experiance! the prices are ridiculous also! we r in a dang recession!!

Two of my friends and myself ate there and they at big daddy's need to alot better than that. I was served after waiting more than my time and the food really s---ed. With the monies they invested in the place, you'd think they would of hired a cook. This was one nasty place to eat and the board of health should step in on them. It was really terrible. McDonalds from here on in. I will never waste my monies there again.

I've lived in Live Oak now for going on 9 years and the only good place to eat is the chinese place and i cant understand that language. Big Daddy's is a good place to eat. It's got a great family setting and the food is awesome. Referring to whoever said it's a bad place you just dont know. Give the place one last shot. Its July now and all the kinks have been worked out in their system. Back in December they were brand new and werent experienced. They are now though... The food is good the service is good and "Big Daddy" was the owners grandad so i think it's sweet that he named the restraunt in honor of him. Dont persecute the Wainwright's for heritage!

No one is persecuting the owners for their heritage or honoring grandad's nick-name. I see their advertising billboards, etc. are now promoting the steakhouse part with the barbeque mention somewhat as an afterthought. The "hunting lodge" decor is very interesting and quite well done. Everyone I know had hoped they would be successful but now all are wondering how they stay in business with cold food, undercooked chicken, one particularly dis-respectful waitress who calls people "honey" or "doll", and everything over priced. We hope they make some drastic improvments soon. They recently started serving breakfast, maybe that will keep them in business, just not the business of anyone I know.
