Bear Creek is the construction company contracted for this project. It's also the same company contracted for the Kenwood Towne Place project. Both projects have had financial problems well I guess it's really the construction compnay that is having the financial problems.

Yep, I just heard a commercial on the radio stating they are hiring and will have people there I believe this weekend to take applications and possible interviews.

No...not really. I live in Fort Thomas and I know it won't directly effect us...but I don't want the traffic or the other unwanted items that come along with new business.

Not being short sighted. I hated to see them dig up and level all that land just so we have a closer place to shop. That's crazy. I'm not a tree hugger or snob or anything else like that. Seems like once they start building like this the next thing you know it's urban sprawl just like the Florence area. 4-71 is already a jammed packed mess and now with new shopping in that area it's going to be worse. Yes it will bring "business" to the area, but I want to do business in my town. Shop locally when you can that's what would be good for us.

While I initially hated to see them raze the area, I, for one, am looking forward to a nice and convenient grocery store!! How a new retail venue affects you negatively, I am unsure.
I think it will be great for Campbell County and for the immediate area in general. All those tax dollars can only improve the statistics. C'mon Newport Pavilion!!

And it is your option not to shop there. Exercise it! Last check, I don't believe Fort Thomas has a grocery store. Or a department store. Or many decent restaurants. At least I've not found any in my 40 years as a resident.
I travel 471 each day to and from my office. Not a bad commute. Occasional accidents cause traffic issues, but it's not the norm.

Let's keep at least one of these boards positive! I frequent Remke's but for bigger trips, especially for paper products, I'll head to Target or Kroger's as they seem to have better deals. I will be very happy to have both of those options available in close proximity!! A couple new restaurants will be great too. If they have to be chains, it'd be great to have an Olive Garden or Cracker Barrel.
Someone mentioned earlier a rumor of a Hobby Lobby or Michael's. That'd be great too.
I'll still support Remke's but I'm looking forward to having more convenient options.

I'm not sure when you commute to "your office", but my commute to the hospital (University) everyday is a hassel. I can't imagine what it is going to be like near the holidays. I am all for new business and I am sure I will shop at some of those new businesses, but again, not looking forward to the traffic. No there isn't a department store or grocery in Ft. Thomas, but there are restaurants. They aren't chain restaurants, but there are decent places to eat. I guess you missed that in "your 40 years" as a resident. I don't have 40 years under my belt, so I can't compare.

I'm so glad to finally hear a good opening date. And, Target is underway!!! This city needs a boost, and I'm looking forward to not having to shop in Bellevue anymore.

I commute to a downtown office building at any given time between 7:30AM - 9:30AM. Get off on the 6th Street Exit. From the entrance ramp at Grand Avenue, it usually takes an average of 6 minutes tops to the exit ramp on Sixth Street.
An occasional accident will slow things, but it's usually smooth sailing for me.
I've not been too enamored w/Ft Thomas restaurants, personally. Off the top of my head, I can only think of five or six, none of which impress me much.
As to your "40 years" comment, I'll assume your underlying message was "with age comes wisdom" and thank you for the compliment.

I just can't believe how serious you are taking this. I mean really, get over it. We all have opinions and no there wasn't any "underlying message."

I so hope they do put in some kind of craft place, even if it's more along the lines of Garden Ridge or Old Time Pottery - doesn't have to be Michael's or Hobby Lobby.
With the traffic traveling to 275, it's in a high visibility spot, something that I would think would appeal to almost all retailers!

I myself can't wait. I like shopping at Krogers and it will be nice to have one close. And I hope that Target and what ever else is going in gets in quick! I really hate going to Florence and Beechmont is not much better.
