Anyone heard anything interesting on this lately? I heard Michael's Crafts may be interested. Is Chipotle still in? I also heard Hallmark is moving from its location in the current shopping center.

Where is this at? I know about the Kroger and Target is that were you are talking?
|

Yes - this is the same site. I know Hallmark is moving. At one time, Chipotle, IHop, BW3 and Logan's Steak House were all prospective tenants. Several people have told me they heard Michael's may be looking at leasing arrangements.

Hope they get that place going soon

Me too. Kroger's has signs up that they're hiring now. Carts are outside the store, altho it doesn't look to be stocked from what I can see. Doesn't look like they've started on Target yet.

I don't like Kroger. They are going to run Remke's out of business with the over priced items they sell. It will be even more overpriced since it's going to be a MarketFresh Kroger. YUCK

Kroger's have good deals. They will kill Remke's though. Plus they have the gas station draw, w/ten cents off gas.
I like Remke's too though. But their prices are high. |

Thank God for small miracles, huh? Remke's selection of products is awful, unless you want off-brand junk. At least you know that if you walk into Kroger, you're going to find what you want, whatever it is. I can't say that about Remke. Newport deserves a decent grocery store and Remke isn't it. |

Kroger's has had a delay. They won't be opening till Nov. Something about water & sewer problems at the site have to be corrected. Target isn't moving in until 2010

drove through tonight; looks like they're beginning to stock

YEAH, I can't wait!! I can't stand Remke's.
|

I work with the Kroger company on an almost daily basis as a vendor and think it is an outstanding organization that treats it's vendors and employees well.
I can't WAIT for the new store to open. Remke's is much more expensive to the extent that I don't shop there now. I prefer dealing with the crowded Kroger store in Bellevue. |

Chic fil a is in.
i went to remke's last night. they didn't even have the soup i wanted. the bin w/the label was there on the shelf, but it was filled with another kind of soup :( |

Does anyone know the date when Kroger's opens?
|

I'm all for small businesses ...but Remke is horrible. They have a prime location where they are and have taken advantage of the customers having no other options close by. Kroger will step in and take at least 80% of their customers in the first month. Kroger is much more reasonable with prices and always has what I need.
Krogers will be open by Thanksgiving. Target is still signed and committed but doesn't plan on opening until next Spring, closer to Summer 2010. I'll share more as the agreements become final. But you should know by now that Chipolte is almost complete right out where 275 & 27 & 471 connect across from Perkins. Panera Bread pulled out of that center, maybe they will go to the Pavilion location instead. |

anyone hear that a Best Buy might go in?

Uh Oh... looks like the new Target might take some of the Kroger Business.. that will be interesting.
Here is an article from the Cincinnati Business Courier with many bits of info: Target Corp. has set a 2010 date for its superstore in the developing Newport Pavilion, while the Kroger Co. is hoping to swing open its doors soon. Target spokeswoman Anna Anderson said the store, which will include food as well as exclusive lines of clothing, household items and furnishings, is scheduled to open July 2010. Kroger, which is opening a similarly formatted Marketplace store, had planned on opening in late August or early September. But that event has been stalled awaiting site completion by the project’s developer, Bear Creek Capital of Montgomery. The Target (NYSE: TGT) store will include the designer brands it is known for, as well as fresh meats, produce and baked goods. It is estimated to cover 135,000 square feet and will be the first Target store in Greater Cincinnati to offer the expanded food selection. About 50 such formats operate in the country, Anderson said. “It’ll feature an open-market layout so you can grab food as you go along,” Anderson said.“It’s really in response to what our guests have told us they want, which is more fresh foods.” Kroger (NYSE: KR), the first tenant at Newport Pavilion, began construction on a 117,000-square-foot Marketplace store and nearby fuel center one year ago (the project also will include a neighboring Kroger Liquor Store). The store will employ 400 when it is complete. Like all Kroger Marketplace stores, the Newport location will combine food and nonfood items, from furniture to shrimp. It will include a dine-in bistro with a chef and sandwich bar, a grilling station and a place where fresh potato chips can be made. Broken down, 60 percent of the store’s offerings will be food and 40 percent nonfood. Newport Pavilion is coming to fruition after years of planning and construction. The 56-acre retail center, along Interstate 471, was first conceived in 2002. Once a hilly, residential neighborhood, the property was purchased through eminent domain, razed and then leveled. The city of Newport issued $2 million in industrial revenue bonds to finance the $90 million project. But there are still some hurdles. Kroger spokeswoman Rachael Betzler said the opening date of the Marketplace store is contingent on the site’s completion by Bear Creek.(Kroger is the only tenant at the site to date, and its sits in the middle of a largely undeveloped lot still being trolled by earthmovers and other large equipment.) The developer also is behind the Kenwood Towne Place project in Sycamore Township, which has halted construction after the development group ran into financial problems that prevented it from paying subcontractors. The project’s chief lender, Bank of America, eventually sued and Kenwood Towne Place was placed into receivership on Sept. 4. http://tinyurl.com/yga8qkj |
