We really need good paying jobs in this area that are NOT related to the healthcare industry. I am all for it!

KIA likes this area and we need KIA. We are now losing our manufacturing base and jobs to foreign countries. I see KIA as job security and the survial of this community. We are now in a global economy and if we don't change our ways we will be left behind. We need to open up and welcome this company. We have a qualified work force that can be trained to build automobiles. Just think of all the support jobs that a company of this size would bring to our area. I am all for KIA and I believe it will take something like this company for this community to survive as we have always know it.

Right on Tom. What we are talking about here is a chance to survive. Many people understanbly don't see what is happening to the area economically. We are headed for some very hard times if we don't get something like this.

I've always wanted to work in an automotive plant, plus it'll make my property value go up since it will increase the desireability of this side of LaGrange. The benefits to the community should be obvious - not just the jobs of the plant itself, but it'll bring with it tons of support jobs and small business opportunities. I'm all for it.

I went from 24 hour Las Vegas to a little hick town in Ohio. Everyone around us complained about not having anything decent places to eat, places to shop ect. Come winter, its even harder because people must now travel a distance in bad weather. Soooo...now wal-mart is coming in and opening up a super center. Now that wal-mart is opening, a few food chains have also decided to build. With everyone crying about lack of jobs and such, you would think everyone would be happy. But nooooooooo......all of a sudden everyone is running around trying to get the entire thing stopped for various reasons. Half the people on my block told me that when wal-mart comes in, it will bring people in to shop from surrounding areas. Sooner or later, those people will want to move closer to wal-mart. Most of them will be single mothers on welfare who support non-working drug addicted boyfriends. These famalies will cause crime to skyrocket. Because the parents or parent has no parenting skills, their children will grow up and form gangs. Within 5 years, our little small town will have crack streets and non-stop drive by shootings. I just stand there stunned and not knowing what to say.

I recently moved my young family to West Point from Auburn, AL and feel the Kia plant would be beneficial to all area towns. West Point residents are warm, welcoming, and investing in this historical town. I think a Kia facility would bring much anticipated progress to the area-- for all local businesses.

I also live in the area that is being considered in West Point. I hope that Kia does come here. Unless we get some jobs in our area soon all of us will have to move. West Point in dying and it needs something to bring it back. I am sure that all the people that are upset about this are people that financially do not have anything to worry about. We need to have a community around here that can oneday bring some type future for our kids.
I say.... Kia please come here.... we need you!!!!

Read This wrote: I can't believe this!!!! Kia has offered to build a billion dollar plant in a area that desperately needs it. How can people be so selfish as to get nit picky about where and how. If this keeps up, Kia will go elsewhere. The world is smaller that you think. It takes a lot of criteria to find the perfect spot. Bottom line....the men with the money choose the spot. Don't mess it up or they will go elsewhere. I am assuming that you would not have to live 3/10th of a mile from a large plant that would totally be in your view from your front porch at all times so unless you live there how about not judging me and how unhappy I am. I have lived here 15 years and there is plenty of space in and around the city without going to the length of taking private property and changing many peoples quiet way of life. This is a total rural area with no other development of any kind. Its not like we built near an established industrial area. All I am asking for is can't we put a plant in an area designed for it. The new jobs are wonderful but since when has any company kept its word and took care of its employees, no unions allowed in the south so noone will fight for you. So give me a break, last time I checked this was America and even us little poor dogs deserve to have a home and not have to give it up the the "men with the money"

Thats 2000 acers, there ain't no industrial parks any where close to that big within 100 miles of here.

We have millions of acres of "pretty" land where you can look at trees all day long - move. Please KIA build your plant in West Point - The Unions aren't welcome and the people will work hard and be thankfull for the jobs.

This is such a great opportunity for our small town. Kia is a strong organization, willing to manufacture cars in the US. Manufacturing is heading south. The northerners are sucking it dry with their overpriced labor unions. Companies can't compete up there. We need to embrace this. Check out the benefits on the company's web site...unbelievable. There are too many people w/o jobs. Let's welcome this with open arms before these opportunities leave us for Mexico, India or China. Bottom line, we have good, hard-working people who need jobs!
I also heard Webb Road for the location.

It amazes me that the net affect could be 10,000 jobs to an area that is losing its major employer and all some people are concerned about is having a bad view!

I am a hard working tax paying, law following citizen who has a right to not wish a large plant with its noise, pollution, and damage that close to me and my children. The plant is not going close to the industrial park, it is going close to homes, churches and I do not wish to have it near me. That is my right to feel this way and I have yet to say that I do not wish Kia in the area, just that it could and should be built away from homes. Would you want that so close to your home with your kids? Would you want to chance if chemicals are released that close to your water source ( we don't have city water, we have a well that will pull water from the ground) I am not an uneducated, unreasonable person. I simply would have liked the chance to present my side to someone instead of it being take this and like it or lump it. Trust me, I would gladly sell but I seriously doubt anyone will jump to live that close. So when all the gas stations, truck stops and crime that will surely follow this come, anyone wanting to buy my home, let me know. Everyone is living in the fantasy hey maybe I'll get offered some great amount for my land now. No you will live in a congested area in a few years and wish for the way it was. Yes the economy is bad and jobs are needed. I am not a rich person and work hard every single day to make ends meet. Am I suppose to give up everything I worked for now? Sorry guys, I will NEVER change my mind with this. If it was placed closer to the industrial part of the land buyout great, but its not. Its right in the middle of a community. If you think people don't want a Super WalMart in their neighborhood, what do you think a huge plant would be like. Think, is it what you would want to raise kids next to with no choice and no warning?

By the way nothing ever stays the same – you are either going forwards or backwards – the choice is yours.
