WATCHTOWER CULT Receives $180,000.00 Or MORE From CITY of FORT SMITH.

THANKS to City of Fort Smith Government Officials, in Summer 2012, the WatchTower Cult of Jehovah's Witnesses will hold four 3-day weekend conventions at the Fort Smith Convention Center -- as the JWs did in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

The WatchTower Cult of Jehovah's Witnesses MAY HAVE RECEIVED EVEN MORE than $180,000.00 from the City of Fort Smith during the 2009-2012 time period.

The reason that the $180,000,00 figure is uncertain is because Fort Smith Government Officials apparently want to keep this matter a SECRET. Simply do a Google "site search" on the City's website, or the Convention & Visitor's Bureau website, and you will find nothing to indicate that the WatchTower Cult is receiving TAX DOLLARS from the City to hold their Summer regional conventions at FSCC.

The only reason that this SECRET has become known is due to one lone 2009 newspaper article which only briefly mentioned that the WatchTower Cult would receive $45,000.00 in just the year 2009 in exchange for relocating four regional conventions to Fort Smith.

The reason that it is "suspected" that the WatchTower Cult may have received even more than $180,000.00 over the past four years is two-fold.

First, in order to keep the WatchTower Cult returning in 2010, 2011, and 2012, Fort Smith Government Officials may have increased the annual payment at some point.

Second, there are vague hints in various news media articles which seem to indicate that the WatchTower Cult is also using FSCC, or another smaller local venue, for the Cult's smaller 1-day and 2-day conventions held in the Spring and Fall of each year. It is only logical that if the WatchTower Cult is being paid by the City to hold the Cult's Summer conventions in Fort Smith, then they are also being paid to hold their Spring and Fall conventions in Fort Smith.

LOCAL TAXPAYERS will know the truth ONLY if they demand that City Officials publicly disclose the TOTAL AMOUNT given to the WatchTower Cult during years 2009-2012. That figure, along with the amounts promised to the Cult for future years, should be posted on the City's website so that this SECRET is no longer a SECRET to Fort Smith taxpayers.

Additionally, LOCAL TAXPAYERS who are members of local churches may want to inquire with City officials how THEIR LOCAL CHURCH can receive similiar financial assistance for their LOCAL events and activities. Fair is fair. If it is lawful for the City to use certain tax dollars to subsidize a mainly out-of-town religious group, then the City should be able to find a way to EQUALLY subsidize its own LOCAL religious groups.

If you expect anyone to believe any of this,, then you need to provide a link to the 2009 newspaper article you say you found. Otherwise, this reminds me of the things Joe Mccutchen writes except he usually signs his name to his writings.

It's all them Jehovah Witness cronies, I tell ya! They're trying to inflate the salaries of the Convention Center staff, steal our publicly owned ferris wheel and dupe the taxpayers of Fort Smith into supporting higher taxes on Happy Meals!

The Fort Smith CVB website boasts of having its offices located at an old BORDELLO.

That seems appropriate given "the deal with the Devil" that the CVB cut with the WatchTower Cult back in 2009. Since then, the Fort Smith CVB apparently has had few other accomplishments to boast about given media article after media article since 2009 which tout the annual WatchTower Cult conventions coming to Fort Smith.

Media articles specifically covering the annual WatchTower Cult conventions typically quote City and Cult Officials exchanging messages of "love" for each other. Of course, none of those media articles bother to mention the insignificant detail that the City is providing the WatchTower Cult with annual subsidies of $45,000.00, or more.

The Fort Smith CVB website even features an audio clip in which a WatchTower Cult Convention Official heaps his "love" on the City and its service to the Cult -- again without mentioning the SUBSIDY received from the City.

Each party to this symbiotic arrangement apparently believes that it is the one benefiting most -- thus making it difficult for outside observers to figure out which party is the "john", and which party is the "painted lady".

Local Readers might be interested in knowing exactly what the WatchTower Cult believes and teaches about the Government and Government Officials when it is not "spooning" with them for their money.

In the mid 1930s, the Watch Tower Society started forbidding Jehovah's Witnesses to salute the American Flag, or recite the Pledge Of Allegiance, or stand for the playing of the National Anthem, or engage in any other patriotic activity. Jehovah's Witnesses were taught to tell the news media, courts, and other outsiders that the American Flag is a false idol, and doing any of the aforementioned activities is performing "worship" to a false idol. This "public relations" reasoning is actually the LEAST of all the reasons that Jehovah's Witnesses refuse to engage in any patriotic or political activities. This secondary, ancillary reasoning was developed because the WatchTower Society did not dare to have its Jehovah's Witness members running around repeating for the news media and courtroom judges the PRIMARY doctrine on this subject, which would outrage the American public.

What Jehovah's Witnesses intentionally do NOT publically explain to non-JWs is that the Watch Tower Society teaches Jehovah's Witnesses that the Government of the United States is governing ILLEGITIMATELY. The Watch Tower Society teaches that the Government of the United States is under the control of Satan the Devil as his partner in Satan's universal rebellion against GOD. The Watch Tower Society teaches that GOD granted humans the authority to rule the earth only for a period of 2520 years -- starting in 607 B.C. and ending in October, 1914 A.D. The Watch Tower Society teaches that in October, 1914, the authority to rule the earth reverted back to GOD, and that He then formed a heavenly government to rule the earth -- with Jesus Christ as King. The Watch Tower Society teaches that in 1919 that Jesus Christ selected the Watch Tower Society as his sole earthly representative of that heavenly government. The Watch Tower Society teaches that the Government of the United States (as well as all other governments), is its' enemy, because it has failed to surrender governmental power that rightfully belongs to the Watch Tower Society.

These are the ACTUAL reasons that the Watch Tower Society forbids its Jehovah's Witness members to support the government of the United States -- no voting, no holding political office, no professing citizen loyalty via the Pledge of Allegiance or standing for the National Anthem, no joining the military to protect the United States, etc. Jehovah's Witnesses do not profess to be "pacifists". They claim to be "neutrals". JWs consider themselves to be "citizens" of the government supposedly formed in heaven in 1919, and that they are only "resident aliens" of the United States. The Watch Tower Society teaches that Armageddon will occur "soon", and at the Battle of Armageddon, that Jesus Christ and his heavenly armies will destroy the armies and governments of the United States, and of all other countries -- including all people who did not convert to the Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witnesses look forward to the day when they will rule the planet.

Currently, the Watch Tower Society tells JWs not to forcefully oppose the United States, or other governments. Given their fanatical beliefs as to what they have to gain, one can only speculate what would happen if the Watch Tower Society ever told JWs otherwise.

What a joke. Some character writes a post on here that he cannot substantiate with a link or copy of an article or anything what-so-ever and there are actually people feeble minded enough to believe it. No wonder people cult leaders are always able to attract followers. Weak minded people unable to logically think for themselves.

Maybe the JW's are able to negotiate a discount which adds-up to the imagined alleged "pay-off". Shrewd bargaining is not the same as a "pay-off". It is like a volume discount. Maybe if more Baptists and other religious "cults" booked more convention time then they could get a discount also. Another thing, the "bozo researcher" who started all this crazy ranting criticizes that out of town JW conventioners are getting more benefit than local religious "would be" conventioners....DUH! Doesn't the over-rated "multiplier effect" bring in dollars from out of town to be spent in the Fort Smith economy? Wasn't that the paramount justification for a convention center to begin with? Dollars spent by local churches within the Fort Smith economy don't add to the economy as those dollars are already here....Double DUH! The convention center foolish chickens are coming home to roost after all!!

Why is the Jehovah's Witness society characterized as a cult while the Baptists,Catholics,Jews,Islami cs, etc, are not?

Definition:
cult   1. a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology . a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.

You misunderstood my post. I was not saying the JWs were a cult. I was saying the original poster of this topic made up some unsubstantiated gibberish and there are now actually others who are willing to follow and agree with him though he has no proof. I was comparing these people to people who blindly follow cult leaders. But I was not implying that the JWs are a cult.
