Every pet should be spayed and neutered As the video says. It takes funders. Not ordinances.

The video makes no mention of ordinances for or against. Let's be clear on that.
Certainly affordability is a key component but not the only component.
Animal Licensing fees,an substantial fines could provide yet more funding for affordable or free spay/neuter.
Education promoting spay/neuter on City Cable access channels, radio,TV,internet, billboards,b us ad posters, bulletin board posters, informational signs and posters throughout dog parks and pedestrian trails and parks, cafes and restaurants promotions, etc....let's get the word out supporting a better life for pups and kittys and all of God's critters.
...and for all the "died-hards" too stubborn to do anything about the problem there should be enforceable disincentives for ignoring spay/neuter. We need to put our feet down to take a stand to make the right things happen.
Requirementsand exemptions for spay/neuter work in many locales.
If it can be made affordable, then spay/neuter should not be optional for pets. It needs to be done.

Agreed
You shouldn't beat dogs or children so it stands to reason you shouldn't force people to do things either. Coach them to do what's right.

It stands to reason that society needs enforceable laws when it comes to health and safety. By the way, animal overpopulation has reached epidemic proportions. So,serious action is overdue. As for coaching, how many times would you "coach" your neighbors if they allowed their dogs to run wild, crap on your lawn, harass your pets,knock-over the trash and create litters and litters of puppies?

Why is it when intelligent solutions are mandated you would call it force, while at the same time when someone is a victim of stupidity, ignorance or defiance you would call for tolerance for being force to put-up with the abuse?

You sure are twisted-up. Affordable spay and neuter helps the poor, helps the animals and help us all to solve the problem of animal overpopulation, shelter surplus and homeless pets.

Your rhetoric betrays your feigned sincerity. Herding and beating are your words.

Affording and requiring are closer to the truth of the solution.

Mandatory spay and neuter will not solve the problems of neighbors who allow " their dogs to run wild, crap on your lawn, harass your pets,knock-over the trash... "

If that same dog is not spayed or neutered, then it would be grounds to confiscate the animal. Problem solved.

How dare you to think you have all the answers. Your approach is to Impose a Fine Or Tax people who don't think the way you do and steal people's dogs if they don't do want you want them to.

Not one person on these threads has not supported the spay and neutering of pets. But that's still not good enough for you.

Seat belts were installed in cars in the 60's and look how good that mandate has been working. People with good intent continue to tell you that mandates don't work but all you do is run them into the ground. Excellent suggestions have been made, perhaps even by you, on ways to educate people on the proper thing to do. It's just not going to happen with tax dollars.

Hahahaha
The dogs in my neighborhood that cause the most issues with barking, chasing dogs on leashes and pooping in yards are two mini yorkies and they are both spayed. They have irresponsible owners to be sure but there is no connection between their reproductive abilities and their annoying behavior.

You're ridicuous; how dare I?

It is not me, it is the experience of many other locales. So how dare you be clueless yet pretend to be informed only to dare to mislead and corrupt an honest fact based discussion.

Your rhetoric evades the truth. How dare you publish half-truths to the public, yor appear tobe a shill for the status quo rather than progress.

How dare you, yourself..........Some peopl!!

my position is that everything needs to be done to get people to spay and neuter, same as you. So what more do you want? You want the government into anyone's house or yard telling them what they must do. I do not want the police coming to my door to see a license and proof of surgery without a moment's notice and neither will the people you are trying to target.

Just get out there and bang a drum, just don't expect my tax dollars to buy it for you. Go buy your own drum or get somebody to buy it for you. Have a bake sale. My position is far in the majority view. Did you know over 85% of households already have their pet spayed or neutered?!! It is not ridiculous or clueless or adhering to the status quo. You want the the government to solve the problem. There is no misleading going on. Let's make no mistake here. You're the one trying to get people to give their permission to pass laws that force surgeries on their pets, albeit surgeries they should have done. You want to strip vets of guiding their patient care by forcing the surgery on puppies and kittens and initially on elderly animals. And apparently, you also want to them to give the permission to the government to confiscate their pets away from them. Good luck getting those nuisance pets placed; you are sending them to their death. Far better to work with pet owners to socialize their animals. But that would take effort. Far better and easier to pass a law. Indeed. Some peopl!!!

<quoted text>You are the one jumping to conclusions about rights being violated, etc. Laws are instituted to be enforced within reason, that's why there are judges. Given your logic, we would have no laws to protect health and safety or deter crime.
If you would wrap your closed mind around the mandatory aspect reasonably applied as in other locales, then perhaps you might consider giving it a try. The 85% have nothing to worry about.
I guess you are simply against any legislated assistance to get things done for a good cause. If that is true than there is no discussion here.
Affordable Mandatory spay neuter has been done successfully in other locales. We should try it in the River Valley Region. If it doesn't work we will be no worse off for it. In fact there will probably be more spay neuters achieved.
Watch your language, please.

yeah, let's force 85% or more of the people to pay a tax, which is what a license is. What the heck! Who cares if we inconvenience them for the sake of your issue. That's about 16,000 compliant pet families. They have nothing better to do. And for the offenders, let's make them take a day off of work to stand before a judge. Let's make them pay court costs and fines. Let's see then if they have money for a surgery. That'll teach 'em. And who cares if they dump their dog or cat. They didn't deserve one in the first place, did they? Who are you to be Judge and Jury Good causes don't need legislative assistance. Animal owners are not criminals until you make them one.

Affordable, yes; mandatory, no!

Good cause don't need legislative assistance? On whose authority do you promulgate that gem?

Language? It is not an obscenity silly person. Unless you make it so....and who are you?

So from which empty cavity in your skull do you get the 85% number?

You just make it up as you go along, don't you?

Do you think that maybe as mentioned before that the license fees could go towards affordable spay neuter for those pet owners who cannot afford the service?

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Libra

Be very careful when handling financial matters today because not everything is as straightforward as it seems. For instance, someone may tell you about a fail-safe way of making money but neglect to mention all the reasons why it's totally illegal. There could also be mistakes if you're spending money, such as being short-changed or overcharged. So watch out!
