Are those little cameras you guys have above the stoplights on 69 hwy the ones that send out tickets? Just curious, I might have accidentally been in the intersection when she turned red. Just wondering if I should be watchin the mailbox! Thanks for any info.

Don't run red lights and you wont have to worry about it.

The cameras are to trip the signals to change for traffic needing to cross the intersection. Fort Scott does not have the cameras to photograph folks running red lights. PD officers do watch various intersections so you should be careful, regardless.
On a side note...some of the cameras don't seem to work very well. I've sat at 6th street with absolutely not cross traffic, waiting on the light to turn.

Thank you guys for the answer, I was worried- I am one of those guys that always drives the speed limit, and tries to not get "driving awards" from mr. Policeman. It was a crazy circumstance for me, not excusable by any means, but as I was rolling to the intersection, I just seen it turn yellow, then got distracted by a dump truck that was "lurching" from a side street- I guess he was trying to time the light change for his street. I was focused on him too much, looked up as I went across the stop line at the interchange and seen it change to red! I thought I just made a big mistake and might get my "award" mailed to me. Thanks for the education, let's me rest easy!

The stop lights on the bypass have a 2-3 second delay. After yours turns red theirs don't turn green for another 2-3 seconds. Besides you wouldn't be any different from any other person, local or out of towner. You really have to watch for 18 wheelers running those lights in this town. They are the biggest problem. Curves and blind stop lights and speeding aholes in 18 wheelers are the most common wrecks on that bypass.

There may be a delay but there are still a lot of cars that will run the red lights. I make people mad, but I try to make sure the cross traffic is going to stop before I move on.
