Both sides agreed on the concept and need, but neither could match the availability of funding at the same time. There were no hard feelings whatsoever by either party. In addition to funding, there were other issues that came into play, such as it would have been necessary to acquire property on the east side of the stadium because the present field and drainage could not support an all surface field.

I would not want be in favor of raising taxes to do this, but if there is any hope of doing this "sometime later on down the line" then it should be suggested now. If the athletics teams each did fund raisers during the year and with a combination of other donations and maybe some grants they could look into or for that matter franchise donations such as McDonalds, Walmart, WardKraft, etc. They can start saving for it now and do something about it in the next few years. As far as the school goes... It's a shame that the building cannot be repaired (if that is the case) and if it can't something should be looked into for that now also. Part of the problem with this town is that everything gets put on the back burner until it is so dilapidated that taxes has to be raised in order to meet the financial demands on short notice. If we started consentrating on some of this stuff now, then we could get these problems solved before they are unsolvable and we are all in the poor house from being taxed.

I agree 100% Its football but its so sad that the field got really tore up on only the second game of the season. Its really going to be hard on the ankles the rest of the season. With all them pitts in the ground its going to be easy to turn and twist a ankle.

The college turfed its practice field because the way it would end up after a season made what the high school field looks like right now look pristine by comparison. College players were getting hurt in practice because of the slop. Baseball and softball teams there can also use it when their fields get too wet. They were going to let the rec use it but I don't know if that's happened.

Doesn't the college pay the highschool 10 grand a year to use the highschool football field for games? Maybe its not quite that much but I thought I heard it was a significant amount.

$10K has a familiar ring to it. Made me think that perhaps there's a fairway on the golf course that could be adapted for football.

Football Guy, aka Dave Martin, we have a cheerleading squad that does a fine job. We also have a fine high school band brass section that toots their on horns. And we have you, who happens to live accross the street, doing both.
