What we need to be doing is trying to find some good people that would step up and serve a term on the commission. In this day and age most of the peope we would want to serve wouldn't touch it. Some how we have to change that otherwise you get folks like the ones that are being discussed here. It will take a of people coming togethr and standing behind some worthy candidates to get things going in the right direction.

Jeb Boosh wrote: Add Mitt Romney to the list. Read my lips, Mitt pay your taxes! Quit supporting offshore countries and support the United States. This is so true. Check out HTE Unleashed comment above and substitute Mitt Romney's name and Federal Government/U.S.A. for Ft. Scott/Bourbon county citizens and Ft. Scott/Bourbon County and it's the same thing. Rich people and others who hide their money and don't pay their taxes could be considered bad citizens and/or unpatriotic. They should try joining with honest tax payers, pay their fair share and help make our city, state, and country a better place for everyone.

He has released his yearly physical information just like every other President. Why don't you go get a physical and post the results on the internet for everyone to see. Same with education records, FERPA makes it illegal to release educational records by anyone other than the person whose transcript it is. Other Presidents and Presidential candidates haven't volunteered theirs. So why now are you asking to go around a law that is 38 years old? Selective Service records are public. You can go to the National Archives and search all you want. Due to record retention schedules the records you search for may not be there any longer. Obama has released more than enough records already. Get over it. What a great reply! It was not lost on those of us who know better, but Tea Party/Birthers are so disappointed to have a black president that they will never consider President Obama to be legitimate. Their (small) minds are closed to everything except sources such as Fox News, Rush, Hannity, etc. that feed their strange claims about our country's President. Also, many hateful people are making millions selling books full of lies to these Tea Party/Birther types. They are praying that these people STAY ignorant and keep buying their hate and lies.

And candidates are not required to release tax statements either. Only financial disclosures which Mr. Romney has done. Both candidates have complied with the law.

I suppose you are right, but it seems strange that Mitt would release MANY years of tax returns to John McCain during consideration as McCain's running mate in 2008 and it seems strange that Mitt would require more than two years of tax returns from Paul Ryan as he was considered for his current role as Vice President candidate, but we citizens of the United States don't "need to know" more than 1-1/2 years of income information from the man who would be our President for four years. Smart persons are saying that releasing the truth of multiple years (including 2009 tax returns showing amnesty to return funds stashed overseas back to the United States without penalty) would be more damaging to Mitt's campaign than the fact that he is disrespecting the American people by withholding the truth.

Mitt Romney has said that the release of tax information will lead to distortion by Democrats and the media; therefore he’s entitled to hide the truth because it could be used against him. That is not what I want to hear from a candidate vying for the most powerful job in the USA. Romney’s attitude leads to speculation that he is more than a “tax avoider" and is really a "tax cheat”. It’s clear he’s invested a ton of money off shore and made a reputation for killing jobs to make his fortune, and those are poor characteristics of a national leader.

It is interesting to me how the left always resort to name calling and division. It is most likely because they truly know the policies do not and will not work. Folks on the right seem to try and get a long with everyone but not the other side! INTERESTING

But at least he's legally qualified to run for sure while the other, I wish he would just start running and never come back. Maybe take Adams and the rest of the Bourbon County tax deadbeats with him. They could form their own "tribe", set their own rules.......This was brought up about Adams long ago. Have you seen the buildings that are being talked about? If not, go down to that block of the city and they are easy to pick out.

One thing that YOU must look at comes from a comment I got a few years ago from a city official and he said with the asking prices on the buildings downtown and the shape they are in, the City (you, the taxpayers) would need to offer renovations since no one could afford to both buy the building and renovate. See, they, people who buy these buildings and call themselves investors have bought them and are letting them sit. Down the road, and not too far, these buildings will demand that action be taken and someone will have to pay for it and you know, the "investors" won't want to do that. So, they'll talk to you about making the downtown like it was in 1950 and you know they are only blowing air but you'll get all excited about the possibility and when they ask you to pay more taxes to bring the 1950's dream to life, those that actually vote and have a vested interest in having others support the "dream" will vote in increased taxes. See the buildings are quickly becoming a hazard and if you haven't been downtown in awhile, look carefully and maybe wear a hard hat! If they default on the taxes as has been done with the old insurance building, YOU will need to pay. So, someone holding off paying taxes makes a lot of business sense so that would make Jim Adams a businessman. Really, go down and look at the property.

I reckon hard workin’ tax payin’ folks are important for creatin’ more wealth for the smart workin’ tax cheatin’ folks. Nobody never learned me much, so I’m obliged for your insight. And I reckon we’ll all be discarded when our bodies ain’t no good for workin’ and tax payin’ no more. Long as I got me some of them big French fried potaters guess I don't mind if taxes are for losers. Hmmm. Them's good. I feel like I'm winnin'.
