So far, I haven't been able to pay the 2nd half of my 2011 taxes due to a lost job. My name is in the paper and it says the County Treasurer will sell my house on the 1st Tuesday of Sept. Is that right? I don't know where I'm going to get the money that fast. Thanks for your help. I'd call them directly and ask, but I'm too embarrassed.

NO they cant sell your house until you are three years behind. I am having the same problem but I called up there and you are fine.

If you are only behind as you state, you are fine. The property moves from the County Treasurer's Office to the County (Commissioners) a sort of transfer on paper. I don't see the sense in doing it but it is the way the law works. Your concern would be if you were 3 years behind on your property taxes and they were being "auctioned". You'll get some serious paperwork before they ever auction your property. Save ALL receipts whenever you make payment to the County Treasurer (not exclusively "Susan Quick"). Please don't be embarrassed that you are unable to pay, many others are behind and a few are really behind and have jobs, good jobs with some of them working for the County! I hope that you find a good job soon and I'm sorry that you misunderstood since I know you must have panicked.

Its nice to see a couple people who helped answer the question without judging or being rude as happens quite often on topix.

Thank you so much for understanding. My husband and I are having a very hard time right now. I, too, hope it gets better soon. I normally pay my bills and am not a deadbeat. I used to have perfect credit. It will get better. I have faith that God will pull us out. I've seen lots of miracles in my life and this problem is pretty tiny for the Person who created the universe.
