Glad we downsized our military so much in the 1990s. They couldn't get all those bases closed fast enough. Remember how clinton used to brag how he cut the federal work force. That was all military.

That's only half the story. Remember, we have an all-volunteer military. How many people do you know who are in rush to sign-up and get shipped to Iraq?

You seem to be suggesting that we would have been better off by having more military personnel so we could be better able to handle more useless wars. I think a better solution would have been not invading Iraq looking for WMDs which didn't exist.

I was opposed to the invasion of Iraq, clearly a huge, huge, huge mistake. But clearly we do not have enough military to fight in two regional conflicts.
Don't even get me started on the billions of dollars that were wasted on all these base closings.

yes this would be better then relying on the national guard and reserves, something we didn't need to do in viet nam, even though we had half a million troops deployed.

Start the draft. All young people should be required to do two years of national service and get college paid for. It doesn't have to be military, but some way to serve the country. If they don't graduate from high school, make it four years mandatory so they can start paying for their welfare in advance.

See...you had me until that last sentence...the ignorance of that last sentance pretty much negates a good idea...

So you are pro-uneducated? You would like people to not even get a high school degree? Although I did re-read it and left out an important factor that I meant to write... during that four years they get a high school diploma or vocational training...

I myself would have to agree that not invading would have been a better solution but we did so we have to live with what we are given and deal with what is in front of us. Solution is to be better equipped to handle what is on our plate and having more military personnel and equipment would help improve our ability to protect ourselfs from furture attacks dramatically.
Americans have forgotten the fallen (9/11) And Our Troops abroad.

We have on our plate what we put there. Vengeance will only keep the circle going. A properly managed intelligence staff would have prevented 911. Since we failed that we should catch the culprits and correct our intelligence problems, not go creating more problems by being a tough guy with petty dictators and alienate everybody else.

Yes, we did fail at the intelligence areana and we should fix that proplem but as I stated before we have to deal with what we have in front of us at the present time not what we could have done differently which I stated my opinion on that also, We have been searching for the culprits and we have to also work with the governments that we are presently assisting in the capture of these culprits. Like I said before Americans have forgotten the fallen
