I go to this Program. It's O.K. I guess. Nothing to spectacular. The meetings are extremely boring! And getting a uniform is hard because it's like a rat race to find anything! Plus it is kind of a Do It Yourself (D.I.Y.) program. I am not going to Sugarcoat it for you guys, I am telling the truth. I had my real name up there but for security, safety, and no harrasment I am going to remove my name and put something else. Like John Doe.

Its a great program, and the Cadets it produces are amazing. I talk to parents at the UCF Squadron, which has 40 Cadets and 20 Seniors.

I tell them that, a Cadet in our program, has a family tradition of CAP. The Cadet's Grand Mother was Commander of the Our Unit.

When parents hear that, that's all they have to hear. And their son or daughter joins!

Orlando Cadet Squadron has a 50 year history, and still going!

To the first poster,

If you're unhappy with the program or the unit I would suggest checking out a few of the others in your area to see if they're a better fit for you. In fact, we have several cadets who left Seminole because it was a joke and found a new home with us.

Also, and I can only vouch for my unit, but we are rarely board and we supply uniform components as well as PT uniforms free to cadets. Not too mention that our officers go out of their way to make sure all of the cadets uniforms are squared away and complete BEFORE they let us wear them.

Pretty funny that McCain is pictured sucking up to you guys. When I was a CAP member in the 90's, McCain proposed doing away with the program. Of course, he wasn't running for president then. I guess he was "wrong about that" just like he was wrong about voting against the MLK holiday.

Seminoles take pride in our programs. Its sad people feel everything should be free. We do whatever it takes to do the job right and complete. Like the old saying goes>>>> some people are not cut out for some programs. Our winners do not quit, only you quitters never win. So don't something that you have no desire in completing... Hats off to our and all programs in SEMINOLE!!!!!

McCain proposed moving CAP out of the Air Force hierarchy, to the Dept of Transportation.

Happily, that did not happen.

He's also wrong about supporting the so-called "Assault Weapons Ban."

Civil Air Patrol is an under-recognized, under-funded, under-appreciated ALL-VOLUNTEER FORCE.

If YOUR plane goes down, guess who will be volunteering their time and resources to search for you. Hint: it ain't the Air Force's F-16s...

To A Cadet

If you actually read my post you will see that I was replying to a person who implied that they were in Seminole's program. They stated that the meetings were boring.

As for Seminole being a joke, I was just relaying what I was told by cadets as to why they left that unit in the first place.

As for Seminole not having a lot of cadets before and not having a lot now, I would say that is a good sign that the leadership up there 1) doesn't care about the cadet program or 2) has no clue how to run a cadet program.

Other units in the area have come back from near death with a lot more obstacles in front of them then Seminole. Just my opinion, but the difference is that true leaders focus on making the program better instead of tuting their own horns and seeking glory.

As to what unit I belong to, does it even matter? Again, if you read my original post I encouraged the first poster to check out other units to see if he can find one that is a better fit for him. Looks a little like I was actually trying to save a cadet who may be on the verge of leaving the program. Unlike you who takes the unrealistic approach that "no one in my squadron would ever quit." Because I'd hate to break it to you but obviosuly people do quit seminole, including some very good people who, in their words, wasted a lot of time up there before finding a squadron that fit them.

Well it seems to me all the CAP programs are about the same thing... So you would not qualify as a leader. A leader leads, not complains, plus all CAPS being on the same team, you would not survive the true rigorous program that it should be. Remember there should be nothing in the world you could not do or learn, unless you are not cut out for it.

What are you talking about? Are you even a member of CAP? All CAP programs are not about the same thing. Cadet squadrons, as their name implies, should be focusing on the cadet program. Of which, emergency services is not a required component. A cadet squadron should be focusing on developing the leadership and character of cadets. Senior squadrosn exist to support emergency services, while composite squadrons exist to do both.

I have no issue with the Seminole Squadron other then that from what I've heard from their former cadets and from what I've seen with my own eyes. Their cadets show up to activities in jacked up uniforms (service dress blues with tennis shoes or sandals, BDUs with wrong belts, no name tapes, etc.). So from where I am standing it doesn't look like their leadership is doing things the right way or teaching their cadets how to properly wear a uniform. This makes ALL units look bad and tarnishes the image of CAP as a whole. Having a bunch of motivated and well meaning people running around and doing things incorectly doesn't help at all.

Furthermore, I don't think you know me and you have absolutley NO room to suggest that I 1)am not a leader and 2)wouldn't survive CAP's rigorous program; which I hate to break it to you, isn't that rigorous. I am in this program to learn how to lead and I would be willing to bet, based on your anyone who complains, speaks up, voices a concern or has a different opinion must be a nonhacker attitude, that I am already more squared away and have a better idea of what it takes to lead then you ever will.

In the words of a great man, "you are a pouge!"

There was a CAP program in South Florida that was stationed out of North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines.

Whatever happened to that?

Spoken like a person who has no clue what CAP is or what its purpose is. I'm already a member so here's an idea why don't you "put up or shut up" and join the organization.

Furthermore, since you're so big on facts why don't you quote me some instead of running your yap about something you obviously know absolutley nothing about. And while you're at it, oh great and powerful one, why don't you clue me in on what squared away for HUMANITY and Seminole County means. Because I didn't realize we were talking about humanity.

I won't hold my breath though, because I think I'll be waiting a very long time.
