Hopefully a plastic surgeon will remember this case and pledge to help the girl when its viable to do surgery.

Just b/c you move out of state doesn't mean you've fallen off the face of the earth. Get an attorney; they'll track the person down so she can sue them for the bills. Second, why was the mother allowing her baby near this dog? Sounds like she wasn't watching the child closely. Just b/c the dog's owner may say it's friendly doesn't make it so; anything with teeth will bite. I certainly don't agree that the dog was given to some rescue group and then adopted out to an unsuspecting family. It should have been put down.
