FAU would be out of their minds to move Sea Tech up to Harbor Branch. Leave it alone. The OE Department generates more money than any other Department in the entire University. Don't mess with it. It will cost FAU in the longrun. Dumb move.
I went to school at Sea Tech and it is really a great place for learning and is one-of-a-kind.

As SeaTech does not line the pockets of crooked politicians the way Scripps is doing, why keep it local?

Harbor Branch? It's nothing like a Woods Hole. They haven't contributed much to the science / engineering community in years, and I consider them an irrelevant organization at the moment. Should the two facilities merge, you can be guaranteed that novel research will be supported alone by FAU OE profs. Keep FAU Ocean Engineering distinct and unique; with all the research they are generating, they deserve a facility tailored to their needs.
As a matter of fact, FAU administrators should be kissing the ground they walk. They are lucky to attract the OE profs that they have. These guys are world class researchers. Make the move, and you will loose your brightest minds and an investment in the future of South Florida.

I couldnt agree more. besides, I believe Harbor Branch is a more of a Marine Biology type facility. OE will benefit in NO WAY from the move and we do have World Class professors. Just ask any Grad student who comes from France or China. We have world-reknown professors and FAU OE is the top ranked Undergrad Ocean Engineering school in the nation!(MIT currently only offers grad school studies in OE).

You always get the people that think the whole world is corrupt. If this guy thinks everyone is corrupt, he must be corrupt.
