The next good reason to move away from this insanity. Electric bills that never get to even be mentioned as close the rest of our nations AVERAGE monthly cost. Always in the upper 5% of the range. North Carolina is calling.

FPL is guaranteed a profit each year by being a government monopoly. Maybe they should feel the pain we do. Make do with less and pay their executives and stockholders less.

With the economy the way it is you would think they would at least hold off for another year or so. Everyone seems to have their hands in our pockets.

This is ridiculous. This is nothing more than to make sure theyre making money for their shareholders. After Wilma, they still stuck us with a hike to cover the 440 million it costs to fix everything yet when the bottom line came for their books at the end of the year, they still made 877 million. Treat a utility like any other company...you can make money and you can lose money.

This is a crock of sht... its not enough that we are paying higher fuel cost too, but go forbid FPL not make the same amount of money they made last year. Why are they so special? When so many small business are losing money because of the high fuel costs why cant they bite the bullet like the rest of us.

I just can't understand why fuel costs FPL twice as much s Progress Energy. I hope the state regulators have the common sense to ask why.

Just turn off your electric water heaters when you do not use them. Saves you at least 30 percent on your monthly electric bill. FPL will not tell you to do this because it would seriously damage their profits. Takes 15 minutes to heat once you turn it back on. Ive done this for over a decade.

Good God. This administration has screwed us all soo bad. Once they go up, food and electricity will never go down. Meanwhile oil companies are laughing all the way to the bank and the government won't step in to regulate this madness because they are getting rich off it as well.

This is digusting! Trim the salaries of the CEO and CEE. When I lived in Florida my bills for a 3/2 was never under 250. Now that I live in Southern California in the desert my bills are never over 100. Something is terrible wrong with FPL. They are putting the screws to you guys badly.
Must begin to P-R-O-T-E-S-T-!! Stop taking it!

Kay-Z wrote: <quoted text> Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Republicans the majority in Tallahassee... Your right however the Republicans in Tallahassee have no say in the underlying reason FP&L wants a rate increase due to high fuel cost. That has to do with many reasons, but a major part is the Democrats in Washington cowing all the time to the tree huggers and refusing to allow us to drill in many known oil deposits in this country and refusing to allow more refineries to be built. We have to depend on getting most of our oil from other countries thanks to Pelosi and gamg then they have the nerve to question why we're involved in the Middle East.

Governor Christ is another example of BS. His claims of lower taxes (fall like a rock), lower insurance and now he signs another bill letting FPL increase our power bills by 16% during times of economic woes. Water companies allowed to up the ante to cover costs because usage is down. How about telling FPL's overpaid and over bonused big shots to give up 50% of their extraordinary income. Do you all realize how much the honchos are making? Absurd. Christ has sold us out just like Jeb. People are leaving here in droves and the ones that are comming are finding they can't afford this thug infested enviroment! Everyone is passing along the charges but WE are NOT getting any increases in wages. Something has got to give
