Nice article sun-sentinel, way to make this guy sound like a victim. "The defendant faithfully attended every court hearing, and was pleasant to the judge." That is not why his bond was revoked. If you are out on bond, awaiting trial for a serious felony, and arrested again for another crime, there is a good chance you will land in jail. In the rest of the country (away from south Florida where it is possible to be arrrested 190 times and still be running around free to carjack others) he would be in jail. Deputies risked their lives jumping into the same dangerous water that killed him and instead of praising them, you guys print that incredibly offensive quoute made by his mother, stating that noone tried to save him. While it is too bad that he died, your article implies that the judge who surprised him and the deputies who couldn't save him are to blame for his death. This idiot would be alive if one of a thousand bad choices he made would have been made differently. Tragic, yes. Anyone else's fault, no way.

So a career criminal is dead, I see this as good news, one less on the street, and no one killed him other than himself

You know how many times they are facing seriously charges, they say they will beat the charges, then get slapped with 40 years. Who gave this guy the impression he was going home that day??Then the family implies he must have been pushed or thrown in, and nobody tried to save him. I read the article fast, but I don;t think the article mentioned three deputies jumped in after him.

Sorry, it does say that two deputies tried to save him. What a slanted article though. He attended court and was pleasant to the judge. The second the judge sentenced him, the judge would have been cursed out.

There isn't a chance in @#@! that I would jump in the river to try to save a piece of garage. A child yes, but a scum bag who is doing this to escape no way. As a co-worker of some of these deputies I must say wtf were you thinking of. You were not required to risk you lives in such a way. We are not trained in water rescue. You throw your floatian device that is in each of your vehicles. If you can not get to it in time to bad. We are lucking none of the good guys drowned instead.

At least our tax dollars wont go to another career criminal to house and feed and pay for all his medical expenses. Im sure washing cars makes plenty of money to support 3 kids. He did the whole state a favor. He didnt want to take a shower so he decided to wash up on shore!

Once again the mom/Sun-sentinel blame everyone else but the son. You must give credit to the writer because he did come up with a good spin. Let's not look at how wrong it is but the fact the writer had such an imagination.

Think I will nominate him for a Darwin award.
