After my post I saw the post about him going to the airport. It's very admirable and mature of him to do that for an uncle, but first of all the uncle should be ashamed to call the family home and expect a 16 year old to pick him up...Dad would have been a better person to do this and even better than Dad would have been a $25.00 cab ride to the home. The uncle probably feels like cpxx right now.
I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Another incident involving a stupid kid, but it's not terrible at all. He probably deserved it.
Have you got a compassionate bone in your body?? geesh.... I love how everyone jumps to rash decisions on these posting sites.... My father always said "If you live in a glass house don't throw stones."

For anyone tied to the family... My condolences to you. And, ignore most of the moronic posts that hit this site. A good number of those are probably posted by people with nothing to do, and that never get attention at home.(Me, I was looking to see if anyone had any additional info on the story). The SS, isn't always the best at divulging the whole story!

Concerned One - The problem with you is your Dad didn't pull out! Maybe if the best part of you didn't drip down your Mom's leg, then we wouldn't be subjected to your idiotic posts on a daily basis!!!!

The PROBLEM was that he got in a auto vehicle. Had he NOT got in a auto vehicle he would NOT be in this horrible mess.

Please tell your kids to ALWAYS wear seat belts. So many cases of children getting killed because of no seat belts. I pray that this boy recovers. I question why a 16 year old had to go to the airport at 5:30 am. Tell the person you are picking up to get a later flight or wait in the airport until 7 am. This poor kid was probably half awake.

As per the Fla Dmv website :

This is a shame. I wish the best for Nick and his family. I think its commendable that he took the initiative to go pick up a family member at that time.

This is a terrific kid. His parents struggle to pay his tuition. He is anything but some irresponsible rich kid out joyriding at 5 AM. He was helping his family and I am sure his parents are indeed blaming themselves, tho they shouldn't. His only mistake was not wearing his seatbelt. We wish him a speedy recovery and are all praying for him and his family.

You absolute MORON!! This kid is such a productive addition to society that he wakes up early on a Sunday morning to do a favor for a family member. DON'T ASSUME.
Ok.. Marcus...maybe you should direct the MORON comment to the parents who wanted to sleep in and send their son out at 5:30 in the morning to pick up some relative at the airport who is so consideration to come in at that hour!..YEP..Moron is the right word just in the wrong direction...

I didnt mean to get people to argue with me about the situation he was in, I'm just asking that people not automatically think the worst just because he is 16 years old. Instead of asking how lazy the parents are, why not ask how rsponsible of him for offering to go at that hour, considering he IS 16 and probably wants to sleep in on a sunday morning? It's not my reponsibility to sit here and try and justify the situation, but I'm sure at one point or another everyone commenting on here has had to be out driving at that hour, and as the article said, it was a one car crash.
Your right Michelle.. a 16 year old growing sleep loving male VOLUNTEERS to wake up and be on the road at 5:30 in the morning...that seems logical...I would have alot of guilt if I were the parents and ask, What were we thinking?

He is a friend of the family. He was on his way to pick up an uncle at the airport, he's a star athlete, and not the typical 16 year old partying out late at night. Don't assume the worst. Right now, the only thing we know is that he was on the way to the airport to pick up his uncle, who had called and said he had landed. He dropped his phone and was looking for it when he lost control. Please, again, dont assume the worst and just pray for his family and friends.
I pray the boy recovers. The uncle should have caught a later flight or waited until 7 am for the boy to pick him up. The poor kid was probably half asleep. A note to parents and young people:

1. Tell the kids and adults to ALWAYS wear seat belts. I know multiple examples where youngsters have died in crashes due to no seat belts.

2. Talking on a cell phone and driving is dangerous especially for inexperienced young people.

Especially to 16 years olds in car and also with cell phones. Double risk.

I hope he gets through OK.

any one who knows him knows he's not the typical 16 year old who smokes weed and drinkes every weekend. We all know he's a dedicated athlete who is always nice to everyone he meets. Ive personally known him for the past 6 years and i know he doesnt deserve any of this.

I visited Nick in the hospital this morning and Gods grace was upon him. He moved his eyes and grasped our hand. Nick got up early in the morning to take his uncle to the airport. He drove him to the airport because of his love for the uncle. To all the CSI detectives, we really do not know what caused the accident. For all the people with rude comments, why dont you just go to the hospital, look at him, tell his mom your rude comments. He is in ICU, North Broward. See you there!

Actually I have to say I have TRULY been having some really good chuckles, and pound my chest in TRIUMPH, from having all the things happen that we are reading about now in the news. Whenever the current events locally and nationally are as they are now and everyone begins to actually FEEL the devastating effects of those horrible problems of which I have been SPEAKING about, everyone always starts to complain of suffering from those PROBLEMS. I refer to that crying and complaining as the "gnashing and gnawing of teeth". This "gnashing and gnawing of teeth" that everyone is doing now due to all of the unfortunate problems that are occurring in America (tragic auto vehicle crashes, foreclosures on home mortgages, high inflation, huge national debt, rising unemployment, declining home sales and prices, skyrocketing fuel prices, taxes, insurance, etc.) all thoroughly SUBSTANTIATE practically EVERYTHING I have been speaking about and was being ridiculed for by some.

.
Well, it has been a long, long time ago that I FIRST posted in a SS news article that was about a tragic crash that had occurred then. For several of the people who were involved in the crash their bodies had been mutilated by the crash. It was truly a wrenching story to read about in the news. Upon reading that horrific story about that collision of auto vehicles I could only look to my innermost feelings in order to create a postname for my post that I was going to submit. The horror of reading about the crash represented exactly what I was feeling about things, and that provided for me the basis for the postname to type in and I have retained that postname ever since::........concerned one.

Since that time of that news story of the crash there has been a number of major news headlines come out about a number of various stories relating to how everything is going these days. Within all of those stories a clear MESSAGE has been shown:: I have consistently been right on track with where the shape of things would lead.
And for all of those who ridiculed me..........well..........look at it this way..........the world is indebted to you for bringing about the famous saying about YOU:: There is a FOOL born every second.
