He converts from one version of the Christian myth to another. Who cares. Funny how everybody thinks that whatever church they choose to go to is the "true church"...

Rey Flores-it does not recognize any one religion as "true" church. Catholocism has lied about that since it was organized. PS - Peter was not a Pope, either!

Agreed, how about just plain freethinking?

I have always admired Tony Blair's political opinions because he was willing to do what he thought was the right thing to do, even if they were unpopular. He stood lockstep with the United States in the fight against terrorism.

Conversion from one Christian church to another is an indicator that he is on a spiritual journey, and I would think this pleases God very much.

Merry Christmas to all.

Welcome, home, Mr. Blair.

Whatever happened to freedom of conscience?

I cannot believe the vitriolic remarks. If the Christian expression of Catholicism speaks to Tony Blair and gives him comfort, hope and guidance for his life, all power to him! The Anglican Church has moved so far from the basic teachings of Christianity,it's a wonder that any believer is still in membership there.

As for remarks concerning the "true church" from Catholic believers, you are certainly entitled to your opinions. To my Protestant/Evangelical brothers, this is CHRISTMAS. Don't pay any attention to that stuff. Arguing theological points is innappropriate. Can't all Christians lay it aside? And STOP attacking non-believers. They are entitled to their opinions--leave them in peace or answer them respectfully as Jesus himself would do. Peace, everyone! Christians be glad that the man is a believer. Non-believers be glad that the man moves according to personal conscience. Merry Christmas!

I always liked Tony Blair and felt his office of Prime Minister was cut off 3-5 years too short.

I know it's difficult for many people to see other viewpoints, given that most of the people who care about this story are religious or just plain hate religion. As an avowed atheist, or at least agnostic, I find the story kind of amusing. To go from Church of England (which, if my attending friends' Anglican services in the past were an indication) to the Roman Catholic church, is sort of like hiring a new accountant after firing the previous one who you've had for a gazillion years. Different suit, similar invoices, same end result.

Both churches worship the same cult figure. I guess both churches force people to see a rather unpleasant sculpture of a man bolted to a cross as a philosophical replica of what they’re praying for during communal worship?

I guess all things being equal among the various cults of Christ, it's how many men wearing fancy costumes with gold hats you're willing to pay for. And before I start getting tons of flame, I never said I hate religion, I just find it funny…and sad that we’ve come 6,000 into our latest evolutionary cycle still believing in ghost stories.

Yeah, the Catholic Church does cool things like throw people in prison for claiming the world is round, and they hide/move priests that rape children!

Sacred cow, Did you realize that you supported my point by commenting that random typing will, over time, shape itself into a set of books? Or was it lost on your shallow mind? You need someone to challenge your views and I suppose no one in your life is capable, so I must be the one. Try turning off your video games, IPOD and HBO and pick up a book or maybe take a class or two. As your intelligence grows you will begin to realize the life insnt an accident. If you still believe that it is, go to the lumber store and by some material to build a house and then take it home and pile it up and just sit and wait. You will soon realize that the way things are brought into being is through intelligent design and work. Both of these ideas you will not come to understand by playing video games and taking advice from someone with a lot of makeup thats on your television screen
Wow spooner you just don't get sarcasm.

Your generalizations over simplify your ignorance.

Intelligent design is an oxymoron.

PS I don't play video games, own an iPod or watch Faux (FOX) news. I've also read more than the one book you have. So we can have a little discussion about education if you'd like. Obviously you slept through your science classes. My best bet is you were home schooled.

It is great to be alive.

And, more importantly, to live in a nation where a person has the ability to freely chose their form of worship.

There are other places in the world that still don't respect these basic human rights.

nah, it makes total sense -- if you accept the premise that blair was the bush lapdog.

People who think like Spooner is the reason why so many people believe in fairy tales. To say that we non-believers think that things "happen by accident" shows that he clearly has no idea how evolution really works. Spooner, here's a clue, evolution doesn't happen "by chance", try reading a real Biology book for a change. Many of us have read your Bible and have been unlucky to have almost been brainwashed as kids by one of the many Christian cults (whichever one our parents got brainwashed as kids themselves), if you are going to argue at least learn our side so you don't misrepresent our arguments.
Yeah, right. You know nothing about Christianity excepting the hogwash that atheists say about it, and it hasn't kept your kind from lecturing ad nauseum about it, and now you're lecturing Christians to shut up about atheist views. What a guy you are.

Hugh Jardon and sacred cow are typical light waits that argue off point, thereby creating an argument to pursue that does not exists, such as throwing evolution into an argument that only mentions intelligent design, many intelligent design theorists by the way believe firmly in evolution. There is very little that is in biology that I do not agree with. The main problem being the random part. Most Christians have for years taken the stance that christians should not respond to atheists, that they should just pray for them. I believe that their flimsy arguments should be exposed, perhaps stopping them from casting doubts into younger folks that have not made up there mind. And cow, I am not sure which books you are proclaiming to read, however I would expect from your arguments that they are not books on reason
