U.S. will tighten Cuba embargo

I think the embargo is a very good idea.

How come a bunch of illegal immigrants can come here without invitation and then have the nerve to tell me, a taxpaying veteran, that I cannot go to Cuba for a visit?

In the meantime, they suck up my tax dollars for their welfare checks while everyone else in the world can visit Cuba?

For whom. For those milking other Cubans that send money and goods to their families in the Island. The only people supporting the embargo are those making a profit. Castro is not and have never been a threat to the US. He may be a thorn on the President's side but not a threat. SO, why the embargo?

Dude, get over it and get better inform before making such comments. The illegals in this country are working like crazy without the benfit of collecting Social Security or getting a Tax return. Their employers take out Social Security, FICA, and federal tax from their pay. But can they get Social Security? Or apply for disability? Of course not.
The money that is taken from their pay goes into the employer's pockeet or the Government's General Fund. Which, by the way, is where all the money from Social Security go. From there, unlike when the Social Security had its own fund, the government take to cover other expenses and shortages from other agencies. Congress in their infinite wisdom found a way to rob Peter to Pay Paul and not having to answer to anyone. SSN money, is everyones money. No wonder the SSA is goinf bankropt. Learn something today?:)

This is just another example of a failed foreign policy. I have been to Cuba 5 times and I can assure you that after Fidel is gone, the country will not revert to democratic rule.

The hypocracy of the United States could not be more evident than in thei case. We have hundreds of billions in trade deficit with Communist China, normalized and trading relations with Vietnam, the simple fact that the gornment of the United States pays Cuba alease for Guantanemo and yet we cow-tow to the Cuban-American voting block; not for parity 90 miles south of our border, but purely for garnering votes in a key swing state.

I say open free and open trade with Cuba and let free market reforms determine the future of Cuba. Because the abhorent policy dictated by the United States has failed since 1962 and continues to hurt the very people the United States is trying to free.

Now if we can only stop all the medicare and medicade money from leavign our country for Cuba.

Please stop hurting us Cubans that have famillies in Cuba. The Soviet union just refinance Cubas debt for $900 million dollars, China just finish giving Cuba 1 billion dollars in credit. I am ashamed that I have voted republican since i can remember. I have always hoped tha our president was a man of principle someone who would do the right thing because its right, but again, it seems he is pandering the miami mafia as they are able to dictate policy to our countries highest office. The cubans in Miami fled the island to get away from oppression yet should someone in so. florida have the audacity to speak out against their agenda, they lose jobs, have their lives threatened and homes burned. Sounds like they have become what they claim to be fighting against. The brave cubans in Cuba, who have endured throughout these years and struggled to make a life on the island are not going to vacate the homes they have lived in for more than 40 years, they are not going to give back the farms they have labored on when cuban americans have the opportunity to return. Let go of that dream, its theirs not yours. No matter what the president does it has been over 40 years of an embargo that has proved fruitless. If the Cubans in Miami love their former homeland as much as they claim, they should support the end of this foolishness between our two countries. We have much greater enemies in the world than Cuba and we look like the laughing stock of the World when we dance in the streets when we receive news that a leader of a country is ill or claim that the same country is a threat to the USA.
Wake up, its all about votes. The tightening of the embargo hasnt worked and it wont in the future. Every other country in the world sees the opportunity in Cuba and has and is taking advantage of the opportunity. A small but vocal group in South Florida has made us all look like the dictatorship which we so oppose.

Whoever says that these rectrictions don't hurt the Cuban Government in the pockets, IS WORKING FOR THE CUBANS. The cuban people that are accepted in this country are supposed to be POLITICAL REFUGEES running away from an oppresive regime. Once they get accepted in this country,- under false pretenses,- one year later they are making arrangements to return to Cuba as tourists.
How many Jews visited Hitler's Germany as visitors after they ran away from the Nazis?
There are hundreds of this type of examples in history.
Either you are an economic inmigrant or a political refugee and these new wave of my country men are nothing but people abusing the generosity of this country and sending to the Island HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS that will never come back to the US.

Why imbargo Cuba? Like it's a threat? We spend trillions freeing the Iraqi's, and imbargo the poor Cubans? Is this what Bush calls "sense"?
If we freely traded with Cuba we would put Castro out of business... just like capitalism freed the old USSR and China.

Well look how well it has worked before! Look how well it worked on DPRK also. It never works because you cannot get the whole world to do it. Cuba has continued just fine so far and 'tis a jubilee of years already since that method was tried.
