The state has a long way to go yet

I went to maine to do the court thing and did not have enough
evidience to support the protection order The sicko fractured my skull in six places 42,000 in bills on it and it is not enough

All I can say is the Judges are as much sicko's as the criminals

I appealed for sure but I think I as a man would have to crawl in or get a sex change

I'm a total animal lover, so anything that gives them more rights, and recognizes their feelings and pain, is great. Animals feels the same things humans do. This is a great day for equality in America. Thank-you Maine.

And again.....Give me a break!!!! My name is withheld to prevent you sicko's from hunting me down because of my opinion. It's pretty sad when a state, or nation for that matter, will give animals and homosexual's their "rights," and then kill off every unwanted baby. You people really are ALL "sicko's." I wouldn't purposely kill any animal unless it was for food or to protect myself. I also live in Maine. I don't come from domestic abuse and I've never done it. Guess that kills your theory! Go back to school and learn how to spell. Your email is full of mistakes.
hope you stay in boston...you belong there...i guess you have been desencitized from living there, where murder and abuse are a way of life...ps. don't care if anything is misspelled.you get the point

I don't live in Boston. I live in Maine. You'll find murder and abuse everywhere. It abounds here in Maine also. I will never place animals above people. Anyone who does, truly has a warped mind.

people who hurt people, i agree are very sick...but these are the ones who also hurt animals because it is a way to further hurt the people they say they love ..it's is just the next step to terrorize and make that person suffer just a little more.( i am speaking of family pets)i lived in maine most of my life, people speak of maniacs as back-woods and hillbilly.does that make mainers bad?does it make them ignorant because we choose to try and protect our family pets, along with the rest of our family members?i think not .but as always everyone has a right to there opinion.i think the point of the question has been missed.

For some people, pets do become family to them. If your an animal lover, you'll know what I am saying, if your not, then, I am sorry, you couldn't possibly understand.

In many ways, pets can become a lifeline to the women and children that are in abusive situations, pets have a wonderful way of comforting those children, and even the women, they become such a part of our lives, that the thought of leaving them behind, or something happening to them, can be just as bad as losing a human loved one.

I know of too many women that are in abusive relationships where the men threaten to hurt the animals, knowing as they do, that it is a way to maintain power over thier victem.

I applaud Maine for the law.

Why do we have to make a choice between animals,
people, and unborn babies ? What is this, "let's
make a deal" ?
If a person either doesn't KNOW or has to be TOLD
or ORDERED or FORCED by a court to, essentially,
avoid bringing pain and suffering upon any living
being, whether it be one in the making, or a 4-legged one, or ANYTHING capable of feeling pain,
then there's no hope for us at all. Not for ANY of us. Why does this have to be a zero-sum game ?
Meaning, why do some of you seem to think that in order to be kind to one being, you have to exchange
your need to be kind to a different one ?
Reading this thread I was somewhat taken aback...
I don't normally read or participate in these things,or in politics, or 'causes', so coming upon
your conversation as an outsider, it is frankly,
very disturbing.
God expects us to be kind to everything and everybody and if we fail to do so, He sees to it
that somehow, someday, the cruelty will be brought
back around, of this I'm sure.
NOBODY'S MORE IMPORTANT THAN GOD, so why don't we all just let Him call the shots ?

I was really glad to read this... it's about time! I just hope all states follow suit. I would, without batting an eye, put myself in harm's way to protect my dogs.

But you see,...God is calling the shots...he gave us free will and left it up to us. Now, that is if you believe in him. Besides, last time he took control, he supposedly wiped everyone out by drowning them.

Now, while I happen to agree with you that it is sad that it seems as if some people NEED to be told right from wrong, the fact remains, there are people out there that are seriously sick. Now I don't know about you, but I happen to think having prisons though over-crowded and iffy is better then letting murders and rapists and thieves run loose till "God" decides to teach them a lesson.

As screwd up as the Law can be, and in some cases, crooked, I'd rather have this then nothing at all. As for that comment, why one has to be kind to one, in exchange the need for another...

Where did you get this? However, if you must know..I'll say this...I have never heard of a dog raping and murdering a 90 year old woman...have you? I never heard of a cat that stoled a ladys car...have you? And I never had an animal outright lie to me....One can not compare it as you have tried to do.

Now, "God" may have created us all..(if your into that belief) However, he did not create us all the same. While you may want to sit back and let "God" call the shots...(and I do believe the saying, what goes around, comes around) I'll stick with also knowing that we have man made laws to help protect us.

As for that..."Then there is no hope for us..." There is HOPE,...not everyone is twisted, we do have alot of good people out there, but if you give up that hope, and another, and another...then we are all screwed...Whatever your beliefs and covictions are...don't give up that hope, for that is sometimes all we have...without it, we are lost, and we aren't at doomsday yet...

I too, hope that they pass this in all States. As for putting oneself in harms way for an animal...I have, and I have done it for people also.

Does anyone have any idea how remote a place Maine is when you move away from Rt 95? Placing a court order against someone in the north country? You may as well have them search for them at the Mexican border...

People who hurt animals to get at their estranged partners are people who deserve an ass kicking.
If someone hurts or kill a pet, it's a very serious death threat.
