MYTH 1:“Foreign cars are better.” MYTH 2:“Driving foreign doesn’t hurt the economy.” Today, both are ILLUSIONS!

As to No.1, see recent years J.D. Power reports: American and foreign run neck and neck. Material differences in quality that might have existed years ago, no longer do.

But in minds influenced by BIASED media, they still exist. For years media have been touting foreign, especially Japanese, and bashing American.

Yes, our media, FOR FREE (you wonder about this) help sell MILLIONS of Japanese cars. That plus Japanese salespersons’ trashing of American cars cost Ford, GM, and Chrysler millions of sales! Since these companies impact 20% of our economy, this results in America losing millions of JOBS! So much for Myth 2.

But the Japanese say:“We build cars in the U.S.

Yes, but only SOME. They want us to think their cars are American. HOGWASH! They’re foreign! Profits from them GO BACK TO JAPAN. They benefit people there, not here!

And get this: MOST Japanese cars sold here are built in Japan and shipped here by boat!

Then there’s this reality: Annually, Japanese-parent-automaker corporations in Japan reap 31% of their profits from America, billions.

We’re Japan’s cash cow! This, despite our almost 50 million people with no health care, 37 million in poverty including 18% of our kids, 77,000 bridges needing rebuilding, interstate highways crumbling, city schools deteriorating, and unemployment highest in 26 years.

Considering all that, we let Japan leech on us? Can we build cars there? No! They impose costs and barriers that make it impractical. In ‘08 we sold only 10,000 there! But they sold us 3-4 MILLION! Fair trade?

And how about this: They’ve even refused to buy our apples! Practically speaking, they close their 160 million-people market to us.

We let them get away with all this stuff? Yep! In Washington, they have a potent lobby. E.g., they creamed Clunkers. Foreign car buyers got rebates too!

We have 50 billion in the Big 3, so what did we do? Instead of helping ourselves we blessed the Japanese! Just before Clunkers their sales here were slipping. Ford was outselling Toyota! But Clunkers stopped that! Duh!

How? Well, unlike the inventory-pinched Big 3, the Japanese had an ample supply of Clunkers-eligible cars. The program enabled them to get hundreds of thousands of conquest sales from the Big 3. Down the pike this will cost our country even more jobs.

So, despite Clunkers’ sound-good figures, the program will prove a 3 billion $ FLOP for America. But for the Japanese and S. Koreans, it was a GODSEND! They adore us!

Speaking of S. Koreans, in ‘08 they sold us 800,000 cars. In return they bought 6,000 of ours. Fair trade?

Another bummer: Few if any Big 3 dealers push,“BUY AMERICAN?” Why not? They also sell Japanese and S. Korean. But if they’d push American, they’d put thousands of people back to work. Yes, dealers could really help the economy. But shortsightedly they don’t.

Anyway,“FOREIGN-CAR-I-TIS,” fueled by media, has finally caught up with us. So far, it’s cost us a million jobs! We could lose up to 4 million.

But there’s hope: the Big 3 are getting stronger. Still the Asians are poised to devour our industry. Shall we help them?

NO! NO! Let’s back the Big 3. Lately, Ford in particular, has been doing well. Hopefully, this means we’re waking up: CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME, not in Japan or S. Korea!

Yes, let’s quit shooting ourselves in the foot. Next time lease or buy AMERICAN!
