This is certainly nothing against Italian people. I met a lot of you in the states I like. This is all about staying away from a city, which has completely sold out to slumlords and corruption. I liked it much better here when the "outfit" ran the city. That's no longer the case.

The suburbs are fine, especially if it's outside Cook County. But right now the City itself is a must to avoid.

Check out a site called "neulandlord.com ." Nearly a quarter of the complaints across the country were from the Chicago area. Many of them Forest City Enterprise who owns the City of Chicago now.

There's many mold infested apartments in Chicago and the city won't do anything about it.

As for buying property forget about Cook County altogether. Property taxes are extremely high. And, Chicago has the highest sales tax in the country.

The politicians are very corrupt here. They'll do anything from destroy your home due to eminent domain to have the police arrest you for bogus charges if they don't like you. I went through a horrible experience here in the last year, I won't even talk about it on this topic.

But I plan on posting this warning on all the European forums.
