My children were not unplanned or "accidents", and at the time I had them we were very well off. If you were so well off you should have been saving money for an emergency fund in case you lost your job. You can attempt to justify your leeching to yourself, but I'm not buying it. Admit that you have made poor choices and now you want the government to take money by force from working people to pay for your stupidity. And no, I am not on any kind of welfare and never will be because I made good choices. If you can't get a job in that hick town maybe you need to move. Maybe you should give your kids up for foster care to someone who can afford them.

In todays world your not alone with financial problems and getting a job. Employers are skittish about hiring you because they know that at some time you will get a position in your career field and leave. Use your computer and surf the various employment Web sites.Contact a "headhunter" to help. There are jobs out there, wages now favor the employer and God knows where you might get a job offer. But keep looking, keep faith in yourself and your family.

Thanks Challenger. Nice to know there are some nice people left in the world that do not need to make other people feel bad in order to raise their own self esteem. To add, I will never give up looking for a job, and as soon as the opportunity presents itself I will be moving from this town because there is no future for my career here... but it costs lots of money to relocate in another city or state. And yes, I figured that was one reason I have not found a job is because of my education. And they are right, as soon as I get a job offer in my field I am going to take it. It is what I do, it is what I love.. but I am not too proud to wait tables ( I used to love doing that!) nor am I too ashamed to mop floors if it gives me a paycheck.. but that is not the case.

well, i myself just recently applied for food stamps/ebt card. i also drive a bmw, but that is becuase i had a great paying job for the last 15 years and could afford it before i was laid off 2 months ago. So please dont say people,(especially african amercans) are abusing the system. I did not ask to be laid off from my job, it was taken away from me. don't let the kind of car i drive or home i live in fool u. u need to consider the hard work i put in to get these things. its not like you can purchase a mercedes/bmw with the ebt card..just something for you to consider.

People that ask others to support them are deadbeats and leeches. If you cannot afford to feed children don't have them. Let this be a helpful hint to all of you living off the gov't and expecting us to feed and keep you in medical benefits, and free housing.....we don't like it. Take care of yourself if you don't like being labeled a deadbeat welfare bumm.

I can't afford a BMW because I must pay taxes to support welfare leeches that will take food stamps. Sell your BMW and walk before you ask any of us to feel sorry for you.

Oh, Lightered knot... you are such a pessimist. did you ever stop to think that a good majority of the people receiving benefits had children BEFORE they lost almost everything? The economy took a nose dive and many people are left out of work NOT by choice. And you know what, it was greedy, self loathing people such as yourself that caused it to happen. You had a great paying job for 15 years and you have to go to food stamps two months after being laid off? Did you ever hear of saving money? And your job was not taken away from you. The idea someone wants to keep what they worked for is a sound economic principal. The idea help is owed to someone that will drive a BMW and live off food stamps is unsound and dangerous to the American Republic idealism. Did you know that if you are on public assistance and you own a automobile that is newer than 5 years they will make you sell it and provide proof that you did so before they will allow you any help? What would be the use of her selling her car just because of its name? Look up Athei's city (I know that person is not the one with the BMW), there is no bus system there in Douglas, GA. What is one to do when they have children that need to go to doctors and school and such... or even a trip to the grocery store that may be 5 miles away? Surely you do not expect people with BABIES or INFANTS to WALK 5 miles in 30 degree weather just to make YOU happy? That is simply inhumane. By the way, how many people are buying BMW's at the moment, when most do not even know their own job security right now? That woman being laid off and out of money after 2 months... you know WHY that is? Because the state will make you SELL your assets and SPEND anything in your bank or trust that is over $2000.00. That is the limit they allow you. There are regulations. Kudos to that mom for knowing to ask for help before she went completely belly up and kudos to the mom in Douglas who has done MUCH right by educating herself and planning her kids. I am just curious to know what your thoughts are on people who work AND receive benefits? Are they scum too? Do they also belong in the bottom of the ocean with cement blocks chained to their feet because they dont make enough, even if they work their asses off? what if they do not have kids and receive benefits? What about disabled people, or elderly widows? Also, you never answered my question about how you contribute to your community to help your neighbors and city folk. One can only assume that is because you dont. If I had a sixteen year old daughter who became pregnant I would have her put the child up for adoption. I support the community by paying income taxes on a six-figure income and property taxes on a very expensive home in Morningside. I don't have a problem with a disabled person receiving benefits unless the disability is related to morbid obesity. You don't like me because deep down you know everything I say is true. I do think you have the potential to quit being a deadbeat, you just need someone like me to wake you up. Now quit looking at internet message boards and go get a job. If not, I hope that steak and shrimp dinner clogs your arteries.

You could not force your kid to put her child up for adoption~~just so you know. I do not feel everything you say is the truth. I think you are stuck on yourself. You feel as though your own crap does not stink. All I ask is that you put yourself in someone elses shoes just for a moment. You are no better than me or the next person just because you have a higher income. Jobs are VERY scarce right now and you can believe me or not when I tell you I have applied for EVERYTHING I have seen posted. I have even considered enlisting in the military, but there is no one but me to take care of my kids while I would be gone. Not all of us are blessed to have good situations fall into our laps and no one says my family receiving help is permanent either. This is temporary until I find work.

One thing I do agree with you on is obesity. I must say there should be no tolerance for that. I highly doubt at 30 and 110 lbs I am going to have any issues with clogged arteries. Though I have heard ignorance can be deadly in some cases, maybe you should look into that.
