You might want to look at the John Graham descendents. John Graham was the one that owned ALL the land around here. He came and surveyed all he land from Tazewell, Virginia to near Ashland. He had six daughters and divided all his land between them. His daughter Sophia Graham married Wm. H. Layne in Floyd County on December 28, 1832. I bet that is where some Layne land came from. John Graham was born 1-1-1765 in Augusta Co. Virginia and died 4-20-1835 in Floyd County. He is buried at Emma, Ky. He was my G-G-G-G-Grandfather and a descendent of the Cecils who were descendents of Lord Burghley, Prime Minister of England for 40 years. The Cecils emigrated with Lord Baltimore's colonist in 1634. Family names are Graham, Witten, Cecil, Armstrong, Morgan, Mayo, Trimble, Layne, Harris, and Johns. Check all this information with the DAR in Floyd County. It's all true. They are the John Graham Chapter. There are copies of his will and his wife's will disposing of all belongings including their slaves and animals.

My Aunt, Delcie Boals, was married to Dick Layne, and I understand they ran a roadhouse for many years. I visited once and Dick took me on a tour of the area--said he was a "Kentucky Colonel."
My mom, Elizabeth Boals, was the youngest of 11. Mother was Laura (maiden name of Saxton) and Father was John or Jon. Anyone know any of these folks?
Thanks,

I've learned, since my last post, that my grandfather's name was Ira John Wesley Boals, and I understand he was a coal miner who died of black lung disease. My mom spoke often of a 15 or 16 year old brother who died in a tippler fire in the mines. My Father(died in 1986)was Donnie Wilfred Hughes, son of Byrum Blosser Hughes (spouse was Elsie Coffindaffer). My mom's family included Goldie, Opal, Delcie, and I met Gwendolyn during my visit in the '80's.' If you have any geneological information regarding these folks, I'd appreciate your reply. Thanks again,
Donnie Roger Hughes

I don't really know where to post this, but was wondering if anyone knows where Banner, Kentucky is and if anyone knows where Irvin Owens is buried. My Grandparents: Tannie (Tandy)Cecil and his wife, Rosa Gunnel lived there. Along with his brother, Samuel Cecil and his wife Ida Gunnel. They lived up that holler coming off the old swinging bridge (now replaced) I am really try to find out more on the Owens family. Thanks Connie Cecil-Anderson

I am the grand daughter of Lee Roy Layne and the great granddaughter of John Layne and Julia (possibly Judy) Green Layne. I have a location of them in WV. Also that the name was changed sometime between 1954 and 1982. Does anyone know if we may be related how? and why the name was changed?

I am thinking the land my great-great grandfather William H. Layne obtained as stated in this document is the land where I was raised. I still have about 4 acres there. Interesting to have some connection about where it all came from.

You and I are from the same Layne family group. I do have pictures. Send me your email address to geclarke_47@yahoo.com and I will work with you on getting some pictures to you as I prepare to publish my genealogy. I will be working on the pictures during the next month and I will be glad to share them with you.

Hi May Just Be, I have about 400 connections in my Clark(e) Genealogy so far, most of them Clark(e)s of course. But, I have no Vinnie as yet. My group came from the John's Creek Clarks. This is not to say we are not connected. We surely are someway somehow.
I am getting to a publication point for my Layne Group and will finish that in about a month. When I publish it I am going to restart the Clark(e) genealogy. It's quiet a journey to say the least.
Do you have anymore info on Vinnie besides a name?
Let's keep in touch and see what develops.

By the way, my great grandmother is Sarah Elizabeth Clark on the Layne side so I am, it appears, connected in two different family groups. Haven't got it all together yet. Also, I responded to you in a separate post but it came up different than this one. It's there though.
