The Layne Family?

Any comments on the Layne family? They used to own the whole town.

Not just the town of Betsy Layne. My family the Layne's used to own from the Pike County line to Prestonsburg. The property that the old courthouse sits on used to be the Layne's

I don't know why it put down West Liberty. I live in Ivel. New to this.

I'm a Layne who's folks are from Betsy Layne. Did they leave any money back there? LoL!

No, because I think I know you. I know one of your relatives pretty well. Is your first name "Byron?", maybe "Brandon?" Everybody around here seems to think Brandon's last name is Layne anyway.

I think it's you that don't know anything about the Layne's. So far there's nothing on this post that isn't true... Some Laynes sold and traded most of what they owned and some keep it... Either way the Layne's still owns a pretty big section of Floyd County yet today... The Layne Family is a big family.

Because most real true blooded Layne's knows for sure how to spell OWNS since they OWN so much. It is not spelled OWENS. BTW you're commenting on here in several places except on a certain few. yes chester did steal a lot of land from the people in floyd county that needed money for sickness,food and other things.oh by the way did you know that down in tram there is a black lady named constance lackey whos father is a layne? i know there are some good laynes out there somewhere but the truth of the matter is that back in the day they took advantage of a lot of good honest hard working people that had no other choice but to ask them for help knowing what was taking place.

the truth is chester layne paid those folks more than they asked for what ever they wanted to sell him . i think i might know something about this chester layne was my uncle. all you know is what some one told you dont believe every thing you hear. ive been a half layne for 75 years ive been around for a long time i remember bologna was 10 cents a pound you have a nice day

oh,honey i was there and seeing as how we are about the same age i can remember when a lot of all this was going on,because my dad was a member of the (the good ole boys lets stick it to them club).a person would really be suprised to learn what went on in those days and how a lot of families made their money and living.every day that i am alive is the best day there is.

the good old boys was because every one voted for them to stay in office the voters thought henry & lightning STUMBO was GOD ill bet good money you voted for them to. i didnt vote for them at all. didnt you vote for them so daddy could keep his job thats how things worked back then & now to. the voters were the suck club
