I am disappointed to see that the rather elderly Riverside School board has become a little older this past election with the election of Mr Carver, Mr McKee, and the reelection of Mrs Czar, who I believe will be at least 86 if she serves out her term. I read Mr Carver's comments in the Ledger today about keeping taxes low, which is all fine and good. Everyone hates to pay taxes and my family certainly isn't wealthy. What I haven't heard any of those elected talk about is giving a quality education to the students. I hope I am wrong but the students seem to be an afterthought with much of the board. I ask that if they read this they keep in mind that they are not only responsible for the taxes of the seniors, they are also responsible for the education and safety of the young. There needs to be a balance struck between the two.

I was just reading of the teachers contract for the Riverside School District. And all I can say is I AM GLAD I DO NOT LIVE IN THAT DISTRICT. Who in the world is getting a $1800 -$2000 increase in pay each year for 5 years????? The teachers unions must be banned and broken now. The taxpayers on fixed incomes can not handle this added burden. And do not give me "it's for our students BULL", it is all about them and their money. It is unfortunate they do not live in the real world and the one the rest of us do. I have taken a 10% reduction in pay just to keep my job. These teachers and board members should be ashamed and vote out at the next possible time. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I put teachers and politicians in the same category..........bascially useless and selfish.

I guess we have been represented or non represented with terrible boards for so long we are just used to it. And I do not know what it would take for the public, tax paying citizens to get upset and change the local politics. Most school boards could care less about the tax payers. We have lousy reprentatives but given what we have to chose from it is no wonder. All levels of representation is corrupt be in city, state or federal level.
