1st - just because we speak english is no reason to think we are more deserving.
2nd- english is not the official language of the USA, there really is no official languge
3rd - the usa is made of people from all over the world
4th- in the future there may be more spanish speaking people than english

so in the future how would you feel if someone tells YOU to hang up until YOU learn spanish.

Since when is it not English.

really the only ones who aren't really putting in any effort to learn english are the ones who don't want to be hear and are illegel.

But this country speaks English and why should we have to cator to have to learn a foreign language.

It's like you can't force the illegels to speak english so we will force the english speakers to speak and learn spanish.

A country that can communicate is important. Without that ability we will be divided and division in history leads to civil war.

We are one of the only nations that print government documents in many languages and that relates to cost the taxpayer will make.

America is seen as a country of opportunity. Immigrants come here from all over the world to seek a 'fresh start'. If they have the drive and willingness to come here in the first place to start over, then if they are serious enough to stay here, then they should learn the language. Although technically, English is not the "offical language" of America, its it the most dominant. You go to France you learn to speak French, you go to Italy you learn Italian. You come to America, YOU LEARN ENGLISH!!

Why should we learn English? America does not have a declared national language, your politicians won’t hear it. Spanish speaking students are often taught in Spanish at public schools financed by the predominately English speaking taxpayers.

I have read the majority of people in the US by 2030 will speak Spanish. When we get our elected representatives in control I am betting they will establish a national language.

My advise, LEARN SPANISH GRINGO.

Doug, you are so right. If I wanted to speak Spanish, I would move to Mexico.

Agreed, if I wanted to move to rome, i would learn Italian. It's not my responsibility to learn to speak another language foreign to what we speak here.

The people defending these law breakers don't understand the consequences of illegal immigration. It impacts our life in every way, and unless we stop these border crossers now, our country will BE Mexico and we can kiss our lifestyle goodbye.

I just don't see why this country is ctoring to have to learn spanish.

The oposite goes here. We are not Mexico or Spain, why do we have to learn to speak spanish when those who can't speak english won't do the same.

here in our great USA we speak english-
no comprenda' no habla espanol!
then we can choose whatever second language suites us....comprenda!
