AT&T Employees Should Be Careful

I am very angry with AT&T right now, but I will say their Asset Protection folks do not terminate, their HR staff does. And they do not terminate without a smoking gun..

Sorry, but as a victim of Asset Protection, they do terminate and no smoking gun is needed.

I had AT&T UVerse TV put in about a week ago. The installer acidentally damaged my security system while running a coaxial cable drop down a wall. Against better judgment for some reason he decided to run one of the cable drops down the same wall cavity that all of the wires for the alarm box occupy. Now my security sytem is giving me a false reading on 1 security zone in my house indicating that something is open when in fact nothing is open. My alarm is not under a monitoring service contract so I cannot just rely on a security company to fix it without paying at least $65/hour for an alarm specialist to repair it. The alarm was working just fine before the installer started working, I confronted the installer and I went around the merry go around a few times with him before I finally convinced him to elevate the issue to his supervisor. I was told I would be called back on 2 separate occassions and never was, lucky for me since I have had experience with being told I would be called and not called I insisted on getting a number to call which turned out to be his supervisor's personal cell phone number. I finally contacted his supervisor and his supervisor was somewhat understanding about the issue and assured me that I would be taken care of. His supervisor told me that this issue would be sent over to the asset protection department. I have yet to hear from them. All I can say is that if AT&T does not fix this then they can come and pick up their stuff and lose a generous $75/month on going fee from me for not having the Uverse TV service. The installer was very nice and knowledgable about the service and did a really good job. I completely understand that this was an honest accident that could easily happen to any installer, but on the flip side if I were to sell my house, I would need to spend my own money to get this problem fixed so that it would not become an issue on the buyer's inspection report. I hope AT&T fixes this problem soon because it has caused me a big headache.

For those of you who have experienced problems with AT&T, let me tell you what to do with them. First of all, if you just want a basic line (no features), tell the agent you want a 1FR line...that should be around $13.58 plus federal charges...total should be around $21....if you have one of those programs called COMPLETE CHOICE..either BASIC or ENHANCED...if you try to cancel with customer service, GOOD LUCK...they will give you 1000 reasons why not to do it. They do this because the agent gets a charge back in their productions for that day if your account was established over 90 days...what you should tell them is: I'D LIKE TO DISCONNECT MY LINE...and they will transfer you to a different department (Retention) where they will do whatever you tell them to do....I used to work for AT&T and I understand your pain because I used to be part of the problem

I'm having a hard time with the cancelation dept at at&t. Been with them a total 20 years & they won't get me a new phone.I'm ready to flip! Do I NEED TO JUST CANCEL & PLAY THEIR BLUFF? I was ready to tear my hair out.
