Working at the Canyon Inn Motel in Flagstaff, Az we were subject to the mental and verbal abuse of owners Robin and Pragna Prema.
Below is PART 1 of our resignation letter which we we gave to them on our last day as we could NOT take it anymore. These two people should be in jail for the abuse they inflict on others. August 7,2009 This letter is to formally inform you of our resignation. Although the reasons should be obvious, we have decided to tell you the reasons why we are submitting this letter. Because of the relentless tyranny, mental and verbal abuse which we have endured over the last 60 days from Pragna and the unwillingness of Robin to step up and tell her to back off of us, we refuse to be subjected to the absolutely ridiculous behavior that is unbecoming of any boss, let alone an owner of any type of business which deals with the public, hospitality or employees. After carefully observing the extremely abusive nature, impatience and uncalled for yelling, screaming, demanding and unrealistic goals set by Pragna, harassing phone calls all hours of the day and night, and the disregard for other people, their well-being and their safety or comfort, there is no choice but to resign. Not only have we observed this ourselves, we have also talked to many vendors, officials and business owners in the town who either 1) will no longer work with or for Pragna Prema because of her abusive nature or 2) will charge premium prices if doing any work for her. |

PART 2 of our Resignation Letter -
Over and over again, people are completely right about the way in which Pragna Prema is demanding and abusive. We were told from the beginning not to listen to the rumors around town and we didn’t until we observed the behavior ourselves which we have personal experience relating to the abuse. Pragna Prema is abusive in front of customers, over the phone and any time she is dealing with anyone. She abuses customers, she abuses people who want to help her solve problems and she still does not understand why no one wants to work with her. We have also observed on several occasions the blatant lies which have been told to us, to customers and to vendors such as the phone company and the credit card company. Pragna Prema refuses to do what is right and treat people with respect and dignity. She continually treats people as if they are stupid and need to be told everything to do and does not allow people to do their job and does not allow her managers to actually manage anything. Robin, Pragna and Rikki all talk at once during any conversation and will not allow anyone to have their opinions heard and will not allow employees to thrive and flourish without creating a hostile work environment. Robin and Pragna do not allow people to express these opinions without the threat of firing. No one under any circumstances should have to endure the abuse that we have taken in the last 60 days from all three of you but most predominantly, Pragna Prema. Pragna Prema is well known throughout many states for her poor behavior and throughout the hotel/motel industry as we have found out by making phone calls to vendors under her instruction. We understand completely why it would be better to have no sale at all rather than to deal with a difficult and bratty customer such as Pragna who will never be satisfied with anything and will always be trying to get everyone to work for free and to give her things rather than to pay for them or pay what a person is worth. We are not slaves, we are not your shurpa, we are not peons or morons and will not be objects of Pragna Prema’s abuse. We were hired to manage a motel. We were not hired as an entry level employee. We have experience and we also know exactly what we’re doing when it comes to customer service, motel work and construction. We take pride in our work and we take pride in the facility we are managing. However, Pragna Prema does not understand that her sociopathic behavior is not only a deterrent to a good work environment it is also a deterrent for guests to stay at the property. She also seems to be unaware of what a wise decision is and because of this has spent more money than necessary on paint and labor to redo poor work under poor supervision. The wise person allows people to function in their job when they are very aware that they’ve hired someone with experience. |

Part 3 of our Resignation Letter:
The unwise person meddles and thinks everyone must be micromanaged. The impatience is the entire reason for this because it is unnecessary to work under the pressure that Pragna is putting on everyone. There is no bottom line deadline and the agreement was 21 weeks to finish 21 remodeled rooms. There was never an agreement for one room per day and due to her inability to use self-discipline or self-control, the rooms are now a low-end version of what they could have been or inotherwords, poor taste, poorly done and missing a lot of charm that a boutique property should have. She is what people in the construction business consider a bad client and will not work with a person such as her. Her continual lying accusations are unjust and unfair. She will not listen when she is wrong and will not apologize for her bad behavior. Although we did not encourage the guest in Room 108 to suggest anything to the Wyndham Corp. or say anything about Super 8(their other property is Super 8 West), we agree with everything he said. Not only have we personally observed marijuana smoke filling the lobby of Super 8, we have also observed several employees as they tried to run the front desk with bloodshot eyes under the influence of both drugs and alcohol trying to perform their jobs. Do not think for one minute that you intimidate us or this job is too much for us. This job is a piece of cake. The only portion of the mix which we REFUSE to deal with is the sociopathic, mentally and verbally abusive woman who everyone including her family are either scared of or just don’t want to deal with. It is unfortunate that a man such as Robin would facilitate this 48 year old brat who is a tyrant. Observing two year olds throw fits is the same exact nature with which Pragna chooses to do business. The only difference between Pragna and a two year old is age and she can drive. Other than that, the same tantrums and fits are thrown daily making our lives a living hell. We did not sign up to work for an infant nor did we sign up to work for a sociopath.(You might want to look that word up since you apparently are unaware that Pragna Prema fits the very definition.) Our attorney has informed us that we may file suit against you for personal injury due to the fact Pragna has traumatized us to the point we’re not sure we can recover. Her continual rantings and ravings which we have on DVD and also on audio tape are completely extreme and the police and our attorney assure us we could have her arrested for disturbing our peace and harassment. In fact, we were advised to have her arrested but chose not to do so at this time although we are going to pursue this if we are pushed in any way. |

Part 4 of our Resignation Letter
We are not in the habit of ripping off customers either. To charge a man $154.54 after there is no evidence of a reservation, a cancellation or a signature card and to refuse to refund his money just because you’re a greedy person which is certainly the case, is ludicrous and dishonest. The right thing is to give the money back and hope the man will stay ten more times. Instead, the pettiness with which Pragna Prema deals with customers and then wants to be treated with respect demanding her way and bullying people is absurd. It is very demeaning as well as unethical and bad business. Apparently, the very people Pragna admires with money, she is obviously not learning from as they are charitable and treat people with dignity and respect. Pragna Prema was very adamant about the fact she was Hindu yet Hinduism does not teach this type of behavior and it does not condone treating other people with disrespect. In fact, the religion teaches to value others therefore we cannot see how she can possibly call herself a Hindu. Also, be very aware that we have the means and the capability to turn you in for the employment violations as well as the health and fire violations as well as building code and are not afraid to do so. No longer will we be subjected to the volatile rantings of an arrogant 48 year old brat. Robin – when you stated that you would give us a good reference if it didn’t work out – we almost burst out laughing because in all our years of living, we got along GREAT without knowing you and can live out the rest of our days without knowing either one of you. Working for the Patel family – which we know you are a part of – will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! We will never work for another Indian family ever and will discourage ever person we meet to not patronize or work for a Patel. We will create jobs for people just so they don’t have to work for you. You don’t understand that not everyone has nothing. We have a lot more resources than you could ever imagine. The internet is a powerful tool and if you Google us, you’ll see that we don’t back down against wrong doing and we have blown the whistle on people like you. You are unethical and dishonest and we do not and will not work under those conditions. Remember Karma, IT’S A B**CH AND THEN IT BITES YOU. Your own philosophy Pragna is what goes around comes around and we hope you remember that every day and every night while you’re abusing people. |

Part 5 of our Resignation Letter
Our bottom line is we do not want to be contacted by you, we do not want to have anything to do with you ever again and if you decide to pursue, communicate or contact us in any way, we will immediately file harassment charges against you and have you arrested as the officers and our attorney have told us to do. There is nothing here (at Canyon Inn) that we could ever want and everything you have is still here including Robin’s tools. We took what we had with us and what we bought. It is a lot more honorable to have dignity and self-respect then to allow a person with money who has no dignity, no respect, no honor and no loyalty to ruin our lives and the lives of those around them. You are not contributing to society and if you continue to be this way, the return you will get in the end will be your demise. Never again will we work for an abuser or their family. PS – there was never a time when you helped us out as you’ve stated on numerous occasions. We were the ones helping you – we had no facilities (bathroom) in our apartment which was a total wreck and we have the photos to prove all of our accusations against you as well as the video and audio. Glad you had the surveillance as it did come in handy. (end resignation letter) By the way folks, when we got there, the apartment had tons of mouse droppings all over and Pragna wanted us to put our things in that stinking room. We could never use the kitchen because there the mice were into everything. Mice in the office, mice in the bedrooms, everywhere. We were able to get it liveable but never comfortable. They didn't even care we couldn't even use our bathroom. I MEAN COME ON! These are the kind of people who go to their country and pop a squat right in front of everyone with sewage running in the streets! Yeah - anything above the gutter seems like a castle to them - but HEY PATELS - DID YOU GET THE FACT YOU'RE NOT IN INDIA ANYMORE AND THIS IS THE UNITED STATES! Don't come over here and try to abuse our people and think you're superior - you're not and we don't take kindly to abusers. |

I believe the statements made by the person, or persons calling them self’s the “Patel Victim” in Parsons Tn. To be grossly wrong. My fiancé and I worked for the Prima’s three years ago, and had a wonderful working relationship with Pragna and Robin, but a Family health issue caused us to have to move to the Tucson, Arizona. Area. The Prima’s understood this, and they helped us, move to Tucson. We waited for the chance to come back and work for them, because of this. And once again they were forthcoming with assistance, to move us back up to Flagstaff, Arizona. As it was the same as it was the first time we took over management of the Canyon Inn, the previous managers left it with the books in the RED. Within 24 hours, we had to evict several persons, which were observed partaking in illegal Activities on the property that had been allowed to rent as contractors at the contractors rate, which they were not. This is the good management practice of the “Patel victim”. As to the construction work done by the Patel victim. You do NOT place a wood floor over old carpeting, which was done. When we arrived, we were given the next day to get settled in. The apartment was dirty, and in bad repair. This is how it was left by the person or persons calling them self the “Patel Victim”. The only problem with the bathroom was the sink and base was not installed, it took me only 30 minutes to install it, all that was wrong with the rest, it was very dirty. This person, the “Patel Victim” left with out giving notice. Which were I was raised is thought of as not being professional. As it should be. We are very happy to be back, and have the hotel up and running. We fixed all of the problems, which were left or was caused by the “Patel Victim” including getting the drug users, and dealers out! We still get people stopping by, or calling looking for the “Patel Victim” Ranging from creditors to people looking for them to buy drugs. We have had only good things said about this site, by many guest. We have even had a few of our old guest from the first time we managed this motel stop in and state since the previous managers were gone they would be very happy to stay again. As to possible crimes, I have many friends with the law enforcement community in Flagstaff. They all say, they are very happy to see the place under control, and have thanked us for taking the steps to make this motel a crime free site. So please take what has been said by a few disgruntled ex-employees, for what it is,“vindictive Meth induced paranoia ranting by a person that was not doing their job and causing a situation, ripe for criminal activity.
