Someone said the city's biggest problem is the lack of streetlights? That has got to be the funniest thing I've heard in a while. How about the drugs, violence and the general mess that the city is in regardless of electricity???? Id*ots.

ALl the folks of Fitchburg who have all the answers and would run the city better than she, are once again not on the ballot. Stop wasting your time commenting on everything, and start your own campains to be the perfect mayor...

I'm curious. Was the police force and the fire department below average long before Mayor Wong ever rolled into town? Or, were both departments performing far above expectations, and only because of Mayor Wong have they declined?

I live in leominster and love laughing at the people who reside in Fitchburg and use this site to complain about the problems in the city. Like i said , you had your chance and blew it ! I'm sick and tired of the trickle down effect from the losers of Fitchburg i see in downtown Leominster at the bus stop causing problems to everyone who walks by including myself. Why can't our neighbors clean up their town ? Thats my real question !
Furthermore , if your wondering " how does he know their from Fitchburg " I'll give you a few hints , the sign on the bus says Fitchburg and everytime time one of them panhandles from me , they say , "can i get a few cents towards a cab to Fitchburg". Guess what my answer is ? GO BLUE DEVILS >>> LOL Turn on your lights , get a police force and fire department that is adaquate for the city and start listening to the people of Fitchburg !

Hey Newton , performance wise the PD and FD were great until they cut and cut and cut again. Stick your head back into your whole NEWTON, all i ever read from your posts is nonsense ! How long does it take to get a cop or firetruck to get to MT Elam Road ? I have a friend and a relitive that lives their and they will tell you not only does it take around 20 minutes, but they never see anyone patroling either , an occasional State police officer ... If i were a resident there i'd be worried.... HMMMM and the PD has how many officers on it's force compared to the city population ? How many fire houses have been closed ??? How about them lights ?.... This is comical to say the least , I love Leominster ! Go Dino !

Yeah, without enough money around anymore to cover all of the expenses, something has to give. Isn't it a shame that the police and their unions have choosen to protect the bullsh#t police details year after year; instead of finally letting the free ride end? That way, the money that our cops get paid would actually go towards fighting crime; instead of us paying our cops time and half pay for doing nothing at police details. My comment here is in regards to the Mass State cops as well as the local cops here in Mass. Both groups have been legally extorting our money for years, for doing absolutely nothing for time and a half pay with these frivolous police details. It is an outrage. Again, no wonder there isn't enough money around to cover all of the expenses for our lawmen.

The cops have the whole syetem rigged in their favor. There isn't enough money around to pay them straight time pay to fight crime; but there is plenty of money around to pay them time and a half pay for doing absolutely nothing! It is a real sham!

Yes everyone wants the street lights back on....We live in the country part and I have seen an increase in animals laying dead...I have had a deer dart out in front of me twice...Crime is up more than ever...thieves know they cant be seen in the dark, cant be identified as easily as they could with lights on....Perhaps thats why they voted for Wong... Cant blame the police..they are limited on the number of officers...They are doing the best they can with what they have...A second term? Are you all nuts? Shes made cuts where she didnt think twice...She isnt for the city of Fitchburg..Ppl use the library, citizens of Fitchburg....Wallace would roll over in his grave if he knew what she did to a bldg he donated money for, for the citizens .... Lets face facts we had two choices...Get a new mayor who cared or move out of this place...Well you all blew it shes in again.... I for one plan to move to Leominster where the mayor cares, where you can walk on Main St and not see a nail or hair salon side by side...a bar on every corner...There is nothing in this city to bring income back in....Nothing to keep the kids off the streets...Nothing worth spending a dime on.... Fitchburg will soon become a college city period...Houses being torn down for college parking and even with all they have you still see college kids parking illegally and all over....I dont think George Wallace built the civic center and ever dreamed the college would take over....Once again he built it for the citizens..He cared that they had a place to go...Fitchburg is a joke!!!!

Police Detail Officers are paid for by the
Contractors who hire them. There has always been
a flat rate for that service and the Contractor
pays that. It is not the City per se' who pays
Police Officers rather it's the contractor. This
is the way it works state-wide. So instead of
lamenting about 'time and a half for doing nothing
and there's no money to fight crime'. The money
to fight crime comes from the city Treasury. The
detail Officer's don't dig into that as noted
above. Just setting this whole thread of thought
in order. Police Officers do get paid a stipend for
not getting into an accident with a cruiser (and
the requirements not to get that are pretty steeply
in favor of their getting the stipend even if they
are in an accident). They also get a Stipend for
knowing how to fire their guns. Then there's a
stipend for working in Dispatch, another for
being a detective, clothing allowances, a new
recruit Officer after one year gets 14 days
vacation time and on and on it goes. This is where
our city needs to start taking a hard look at what
we've all been snockered into accepting.

It doesn't matter if you turned all the street lights back on, and added some these people are still going to shoot and stab each other and vandalize property. We need to Adequately staff our police force and Fire Departments, increased patrols and quicker fire dept. responses will make things better in this city. I hate to compare leominster to Fitchburg but there police and fire are staffed very well.

Aren't streetlights a socialistic program? If they're such a problem, pay to turn them on, it's that simple. There are even organizations that will help you get it done.

Single issue voters: Would you be happy if the streetlights were on but we didn't have a FD/PD at all and had to rely on nearby towns? This happens in reality and your inability to think beyond streetlights leaves you ignorant to the rest of the city's needs.

When city revenue increases you'll have your lights back, for now, well, never mind, the Mayor won re-election.

Maybe all you complainers would like to see Dan Mylott back in as mayor? After all the damage he did to the city he should be put in jail! Is his tail between his legs yet?
