I read your article titled "Light fight hasn't dimmed in Fitchburg," and I am astounded by what you're being told by the mayor.

First, I believe the mayor just tells people what they want to hear in order to get re-elected. She's been telling us all along that she would gradually turn lights back on. How many years does it take to do that? And people believe her! While our taxes keep going up and property values keep going down, we are being denied a basic necessity, lights!

Second, this bickering back and forth between her and Unitil -- when will people realize it's all a game, a political game. They've both lied to us, so whom do we believe? Neither!

And thirdly, she states, and I quote the article, "In 2009 Wong introduced a new policy on legitimate places for streetlights that includes intersections, dangerous curves, fire hydrants and the end of dead-end roads." Really? Take a ride at night up here by Hemlock Drive, Loiselle Street, St. Jude Boulevard and the new development, Park Hill Estates, and you tell me if there are lights on at all the hydrants! There is a hydrant across the street from me, and it hasn't been turned back on since she originally shut off most of the lights in the city. You'll see I'm not lying.

And there are also some lights that have burned out at some intersections throughout the city also. I tend to doubt the mayor is enforcing any policy, new or old, to have streetlights turned back on.

reading this are probably thinking that if it bothers me so much, then move. I would love to move, but I built my home long before she came into office and by me moving, it wouldn't fix the issues. She needs to do her job and fulfill her promises. And I believe that's why a lot of people don't have pride in Fitchburg.
What's there to be proud of? Higher taxes? A sewer problem that should've been fixed years ago? Now our sewer rates are increased so it can be fixed to avoid penalties. Drug and gang problems? Yes, I'm really proud to live in Fitchburg -- not!

She should take a ride at night around her "wonderful" city to see just how well her "policy" is in effect, and I'm not talking about in her neighborhood or downtown. She needs to ride around the outskirts and see the "black hole" that a lot of citizens of Fitchburg are living in.

We need to encourage people to vote and to get involved. We need to demand accountability in every department. How can you overlook all the city departments such as FPD behavior while holding all Fitchburg citizens accountable????

This double standard does nothing but divide the community into us and them! We need to build a sense of community. Fitchburg citizens pay the high salaries of many administration officials, it is time to start to demand results!

It seems like every store in Fitchburg is being robbed. not once, not twice but three times!!!! This fact will absolutely kill businesses and raise insurance rates!!!

I have never lied when I stated Fitchburg has a lot of good people within. Fitchburgs arcitecture is a hidden gem. If all this is not captured and utilyzed preoperly then the city will fail!

Start by putting on the dam lights!!!!!! And YES, the college area is light up like a christmass tree and the college does not pay taxes to Fitchburg!!!! If you are a homeowner within Fitchburg, you will pay approxiamately $50,000 in property tax alone over the next twenty years!!

We need to widen this tax base and stop increasing of the taxes on the citizens that are left within Fitchburg. The city has been mismanaged, PERIOD!!! POOR JOB!!!

What has Mayor Wong created for Fitchburg? Has she made it feasible for businesses to set up shop? Has she made it cost efficient or far reaching nearing impossible for business??

Losing the Longsjo race is a complete failure! Look at the businesses that did sponser the race! This is community building! Having pride in your neighborhood!

It is more expensive for businesses and residents to live in Fitchburg than it is for them to open up shop in Leominster or Worcester! We need to compete with these cities in a sense for business!

Unitil steps on the city and all its residents! The University gets much more respect than Fitchburg residents who PAY TAXES!!

Fitchburg University is going NOWHERE! They are here for good! They are planted here economically!! I am not saying to ignore them but stop kissing their ass!!!!! They are using state funds to build within Fitchburg; the city's only concern here should be to accomodate them in their goals in reference to loans and grants given to Fitchburg RESIDENTS through the block grant program so that homeowners can fix their homes!

If you pay $2,500 in property taxes a year, you are ultimately paying the city $50,000 over 20 yrs!!! Your neighbor is paying the same and so on down the block! There needs to be accountability for the CITY OF FITCHBURG BELONGS TO ITS CITIZENS!!!!!!

You pay for the police, fire , dpw, water, road repair and lights!! All these departments need to answer to each and everyone of you!!!

If you rent, a portion of your rent goes into paying property taxes and water and sewer ect! Go online to check out what a three family pays in property taxes within Fitchburg, look at their water bills!!! You pay excise taxes, fees and all other taxes, fees and rates! You ignorant #ucking moron. First off you low life scum, Wong and the city has nothing to do with the Longjo race. The city DID contribute, most of the money came from sponsors, if you knew anything about the race it was never held entirely in Fitcburg. The last day, which attracts the biggest crowd is in Fitchburg. Fitchburg did not lose the Longjo race. the race needed changes to survive and attractive to more racers. Its very expensive to operate a race like the Longjo and the top riders are going to go where the money is. The race organizers needed to make it more competative to attract a bigger field. In order to do that they needed to change the courses to get more sponsors. Many of the larger sponors have dropped the Longjo over the years for economic reasons. Having the cource start in Worcester is a great idea it also will attract larger sponsors. The race became a victim of the economy and the organizers did what they had to do to keep it going. Starting at the Major Taylor statue and ending in the city that Art Longjo came from is a great idea and being a long time serious cyclist I'm looking foward to taking part in it. By the way do you know who Major Taylor is? most likely not. Stop blaming Wong for all the cities woes. she may not be perfect but she has done a good job trying to fix problems that were years in the making. If you don't like Fitchburg get the hell out, its scum like you that make Fitchburg the way it is. Nobody cares what you think all you do is %itch and whine on this forum. Whoa, whoa, whoa...as far as the illegal parking over at JR's Pub goes; the area in front of Jr's Pub on North Street is clearly marked with not one, but two, No Parking signs. And, as I have pointed out more than once here on F-burg Topix Forum; PARKING IS NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON NORTH STREET; FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER. When the Asian Quick Mart was open on North Street; the FPD would tell anyone who stopped on North Street in front of the store, even for a minute or two, to get moving or to face a parking ticket. These same cops would ignore 6 illegally parked cars over at JR's that were there for hours on end, night after night. The FPD would also ignore the 30 motorcycles that were parked illegally on the sidewalk of the Fire Station; as the owners of these bikes drank over at JR's Pub.

"My sources" means "my husband, the malcontent cop." Otherwise, you wouldn't know so much about so little, nor would you be continually consumed with these silly little issues concerning your husband's supervisors and colleagues.

When did you emasculate your husband? After the castration, did he keep his ballz for possible later use? I hope so. Maybe he'll be able to use them again some day after you're gone,(if he's lucky).

Suck it up Lady; you and your family totally blew it over at JR's Pub. You bunked the rules and the laws; and all the while you failed to pay proper attention to the details of your oh so precious liquor license. So now, you are apparently paying the rent on a bar building that you can't use as a bar. My sources tell me that on occasion your quaint little pub is actually open; but it appears to be on a strictly "bring your own booze" business approach.

You and your family have no one to blame but yourselves on this mess, Toots. You fiqured that as long as you had your boy Chuckles behind the scenes that everything would be OK.
