A change of culture at Fitchburg Police Dept. - Sentinel & Enterprise

A cultural sea change has taken place at the Fitchburg Police Department over the past few years, thanks in large part to Chief Robert DeMoura's steady leadership and Mayor Lisa Wong's firm resolve and vision to bring about broader change in Fitchburg. Full Story

Great story and thanks to all the members of the F.P.D. who made these changes possible.
As a member of another nearby police dept., for many years, it was painfully obvious that the Fitchburg P.D. was not operating within the same core principles for most of my career. We winced at the thought and sometimes avoided interaction with their members due to this disparity. The changes, as highlighted, can only improve the F.P.D. to the organization it deserves to be and with these changes will come a new found respect for their member's efforts.

"ACCOUNTABILITY"? LMAO! Violent crimes unsolved,no drug dealers arrested this year and an increase in police off duty drunk driving complaints!

Now I guess you will tell me that it is the added stress that these guys drink and drive!

There are still ZERO cameras inside of the police station. The Internal Affairs is still disfunctional and only acts as a protectionism technique!

All fired members of the FPD have been reinstated! This is a great example to lead on!

Water street has become a drunkin crash up derby which now includes members of the FPD.

No cops have been fired for corruption. No tickets have been issued to JRs patrons!

This is what the citizens view all the time! Call 911 and you are lucky to get a response and they are usually extremely unwelcoming and rude when they answer the call!

I say this is professionalism at its all time LOW! The criminals are doing their business through cell phones! There have been more robberies and muggings.

The FPD has ruined most of their cars. The public gets half truths and coverups! Now the newspaper is working with city hall and the police.

We are heading for Nazism fast! Recently the Mayor stated that she has agreed to "not disclose the particulars in the Tasca reinstatement"; this is after he claim all the administration within the FPD for years have been cooking the books! And after the city attorney told Tasca that what he did equates to Larceny!!!

How about cameras at the police station($300), how about full disclosure when it involves a public employee in order to avoid calls of corruption questions and how about implementing an internal affairs that seeks ACCOUNTABILITY??

Lets not pretty up what the rest of us live with!
Good story

OK Kevin, that tears it. I've used the same screen name for many years and I'm not having your whackjob @ss start using it.
You've just made it my mission to mess with you everytime you start posting your nuthouse babble on here.
As I said before, I don't know if you're on too many meds or not enough, but hopefully a professional will get it adjusted for you.
I have to ask.. When you had that "meeting" with the mayor, did she call security? I would suspect anyone as unhinged as you would get shown the door real quick..
Aren't you the guy that keeps saying he's gonna run for Mayor, too? Let me know how that works out for you. Or are you too busy working on that mega concert now? How do you have time for all that when you spend all your time stalking members of the FPD? Just remember, while your're watching them, maybe they're watching you.... Maybe they can access that chip the aliens implanted, too!
Hello, You have stalked me in every single blogg. My name is not Kevin by the way! And I wouldn't run for mayor as I think that Mayor Wong has been doing a decent job. I disagree with her on a few things but that is life. It is obvious that we need street lights back on water street as there have been many accidents in the past month or two on that street;once again someone is going to get killed on that street if the lights are not turned back on.

Members of the FPD have followed me as they are the whackos. I have documented all their license plates. As far as any of the other whack jobs that have retired,I'd love to see them go to jail for the crimes that they have committed. As you have read in this paper from a quote from Tasca himself! Everyone in the administartion for years have cooked the books.

For one if you are a salary employee in the administration then you do not recieve OT comp time! This is why they had to change the post and take it from a different account! This is stealing! These hours were not kept in writing nor officially as Tasca stated that he kept them in his head!

Let me ask did he cash in the left over hours that he felt he had coming to him? This was the easiest prosecutable case! If I were to guess I would say that someone needs to ask what he produced in order for the Mayor to change her tune? Remember she fired him and the city attorney stated that what he had done equates to LARCENY!

See, I feel that they should be held accountable.I will bet you money that this cop who they state just smashed the flower boxes on water street is not fired!

Bro, yes he is the same person who claims he is going to run for mayor. His name is Kevin A. Lynch and he lives at 48 Cedar St. in Fitchburg. I would post his home number too if I found it. I would asume an improper measure of crack cocaine and psych meds helps him post his paranoid psycho-babble around the clock.
HI KEVIN!
Really zing? Middle name and everything? Zing, you are a cop or a family member of a cop! Your little group of bandits and criminals with badges isn't going to help you break the law any further! You are a punk!Zing, who are you as you are posting from Fitchburg?

You will be exposed as you will be sloppy! Keep flying down the street in your pickup trucks! You should be ashamed of yourselves, look in the mirror if you can stand it! You are a racist!

All these school board jobs that these perfect people have and the schools that they work for are failing! Your paychecks are not failing are they? You represent the same kids who you label with your racist post!

Bro,Zing, unlabled and the AOL label are racist staulkers!

Now , why would you post someones full name and address on here? Do you work for this paper? No longer!!

What is wrong with you people? These cops should be catching drug dealers and murderors that run around Fitchburg!

Where are all the drug bust? Fitchburg is half empty now, they should be easy to find!

They catch an armed robber and they never catch drug dealers after those arrest? What ever happen to questioning these drug addics?

The FPD seems to be constantly caught up in their internal law breakers. We need an FBI investigation of the FPD!

They fire a crooked cop and then he is rehired. What is going on here? I would like to know what Tasca was saying in order to be reinstated?? Now this would be news!

Hey Zing, I think you might of hit a nerve there... Though this time he's not denying it... Different personality must be up now.

Kevin, just think... If all those people you keep slamming didn't know who you are, they do now. Better increase the thickness of the tin foil on the windows....

For one, my name is not kevin. What is yours anyhow? My first name is the same as the assistant mayor of Fitchburg.
For another I am not afraid of those cowardly criminal cops! Yes they do have guns and they are rogues but they are cowards! I speak against only crooked cops, if they don't like it then so what! They are criminals! I'll say it again; McNamarra is a criminal! Kearns and Louney are both aggravaters! I don't know if they ever broke the law but I know that they obstructed an investigation from taking place! I believe that both these guys are snakes in the grass! And from what people have stated on this blog and from what the city attorney stated Louney just may be a criminal! One guy stated that he stole new night goggles from the FPD. I wouldn't know the truth to this, you would have to ask the department if a pair went missing and go from there!
Now for others? All are just either rumors or fact; I wouldn't know but I will investigate if you want me too? Like this cop who got involved in this fight where there was a knife? There are a lot of unanswered questions in this case. One could guess and construe from what this paper writes? All I know is if I seen a fight where I didn't know the individuals I would call the police if it was getting out of hand.If it was someone I knew then yes I would break the fight up! So the question is; did this cop know the unidentified person? It is a yes or a no!!
Now for Tasca; I listened to this paper; I never seen nor met Tasca and never heard of his name until this investigation. Now the Mayor, city attorney both labeled his actions as larceny! And from Tascas own statements I feel that there was cause for firering him and charging him with larceny! When someone states that they collected the hours in their head, there is a problem. When the same person states that all the administration for years had done this, there is a problem! The post was changed on the accounting ledger, this is illegal! We are talking about tens of thousands if not a million or more in funds taken from different accounts! This is illegal!

Then there is the issue of certain members getting favoratism from the city boards such as officer LeMay. Now I do not know this officer but I read and listened to the minutes and I feel that Yes he got preferential treatment from McNamarra who is on the board! It had to do with his neighbor opossing him building some condos as he needed to get permission because the parcel was not big enough to split and build. Now the neighbor presented at the board his opposition and he followed with a lawsuit. Now Mcnamarra stated that this neighbor didn't care ect. I dissagree as she knows that this neighbor did disagree as far as filing a lawsuit which McNamarra knew about. Then there were two post that appeared that two Lemays recieved a grant to purchase property. I don't know too much about these grants so you would need to look into them! I always thought that these grants went to people with a lesser financial status than LeMay recieves through a officer salary!

I do not hate police! I am opossed to any police or city official recieving preferential treatment as this is what brings about corruption! Corruption may bring down some good people for the most part; who knows maybe the Mayor and Chief Demoura both were approached with evidence of wrongdoing and in exchange to keep it mum an offer was reached! This is what people believe when the mayor states that as part of the Tasca agreement she promised to not disclose the details and findings! She is an elected official, demoura and Tasca are both public servants. None of these people have the right not to disclose!

Yeah... You go investigate them Kevin.. Maybe the crack investigative division of the S&E will allow you to access their secret files!
Let me know how that works for you. If you need help, I hear Inspectors Clouseau and Gadget are available.

Chief Demoura; you can come up with a better one than that can't you? You should be spending more time on fixing all the issues within your department rather than out here posting!

By the way why die you reinstate Tasca? What did Tasca and his lawyers produce to cause this turn around and then subsequent hiding of the facts?

If you believe DeMoura is a stand up guy, and that the city is lucky to have him then you don't really know the man. He is none of the above, and the City would be better without him. He has done some good things at the PD, but at the cost of some good people, and he is far from honest!!
what changed

please tell me what changed??? of course crime % is down, ther is 35 less cops out on th street being proactive. this means 35 less cops making arrests and the crime rate goes down not rocket science.

Ask the citys' attorney! The attorney stated that he resigned/retired days before he was to be investigated. I don't know why they couldn't continue the investigation!

Look at the Tasca situation, The Mayor agreed with Tasca attorneys to not disclose the facts of how and why the agreement was reached to reinstate him!

This would NEVER happen in Boston;NEVER! It is illegal! The reasons behind public dislosure access is to stem CORRUPTION. Think about it; if Tasca had brought some illegal dealings of other police or the Mayor and stated that he would disclose these facts if he wasn't reinstated! We are all left to guess and give our opinions!

The Mayor has absolutely no right not to disclose! This is illegal and I WOULD GUESS THAT THEY ARE HIDING SOMETHING! This paper should demand that they disclose; I just hope that this paper is not getting into politics!

Is the professor citing arrest stats or victimization surveys when he says crime is down in the city? If he's citing arrest stats, crime always goes down when staffing's down because there are less officers available to make the arrests. I bravely took a ride through Fitchburg the other day and I didn't see a whole lot of improvement.

Motorcycles improve the department? Yeah for the guys who get to ride them! This guy is full of s__t! The main reason cops love bikes is that cops love bikes. The distinguished Professor's own words spell it out,"increases officer morale" i.e. looks really cool. Come to think of it, I'll ask my boss for a Harley to ride around on instead of that old pickup because it will make me happier at work. Same old same old BS in the FPD and city government in general.

I think this guy relies on cooperation from local PDs for his "research" and good political will from local pols in order to maintain and improve his position in the government funded state education system.

They are less expensive to operate and maintain, are easier to maneuver through traffic jams and can go places that cars don't fit. This reduces response times. If there are skilled riders on the force than it's a definite positive to have at least a couple of them out there.

And yes people like motorcycles and like to look at them which promotes positive interaction between officers and the community.

It's win/win.
