Amazing! People want the roads repaired but they won't detour around the area so crew can complete the project! Leave a little earlier in the morning and go around the project site People.

I was in it coming home, did take an extra hour, thought they would at least stop by 4. If I had known it was going to be like that I would have bailed but it was too late.

I agree, most paving these days is done at night. Then again, 117 is overloaded traffic wise, and is only to get worse.

DO THE WORK AT NIGHT.

They should not be paid extra for it. I find it hard to believe that there are no experienced laborers who are willing to do work such as this, even at night. Yeah yeah don't get me going about unions, contracts, etc. Its all BS.

And another thing: Rt 117 is a bordering on a complete mess on a good day, nevermind during a snow storm, heavy rain, or when there is a minor accident.

I cannot believe that the police didn't anticipate these problems. Especially with a school so close by with childen using the sidewalk to and from school, school buses, etc. Come on folks, I am in a completely different line of work and I didn't spend a whole lot of time thinking about this to come to these conclusions!

A good gps will find you a route around this construction.
Unfortunately, the only way to detour is on the southern side of 117, and it is a loooong detour. Have to go all the way through Lancaster center to AUC, and turn towards George Hill, then back to 117 on some back roads.
Or you could take route 2 for a few days.

I work in Clinton, and usually use 117 to get there. There were signs warning about the paving for a few days before the paving starts. I'm sure most people can find a detour for a few days, like I did.

All of you crying do the work at night, if the town did not put night paving into the orignal specifiacations when it went out to bid, then this is not the contractors fault.

If the town did ask for a price both ways, day paving or night paving, and chose the lower cost/bid of day paving, then again, this is on the town.

BTW, the diffence in time between taking Rt.117 to 495 or Rt.2 to 459 is only about 7 - 10 minutes. Leave a few minutes early.

It won't happen at night. The prevailing wage people will never go for that. we all know how much pull they have in this state. But you folks are right It should happen at night,in any other state it would have been Plan A. Not an after thought.

I travel this road to an from work everyday. this work should be done between 8 and 3. I was shocked when I was driving home Wednesday evening and found myself sitting in traffic for an hour. Most of these jobs knock off at 3 or 4 so I never imagined the project would still be going on. As for everyone who thinks the people who are complaiing are babies.........you spend an hour each way, every day for your commute. See how you like a massive traffic jam added into your equation. I would giv my right arm to commute between Fitchbur and Leominster every day. Heck - commuting to Worcester every day would even be better than metro-west.

If you are heading for 495 South, route 2 adds over 10 miles to your commute. Or you can noodle around through Clinton, which is no easy task either.

Incidentally 495 is being extensively repaved, and all the work is being done at night. Hmmm...

So the sign was up for at least a week, letting people know there would be road work and to find an alternate route. I understood this and was ready to drive rt2 to rt126 to rt117 for my commute for a couple days. Now I hear that they are going to just leave the mess on 117...

I own a vehicle that can not be driven at the speed limit on a road that is tore up, and do not appreciate people who find it is necessary to pass a car to get home 2 minutes sooner. Saturday someone blew past me before the rt70 intersection putting other peoples safety in danger.

I refuse to ruin a vehicle that I paid over 35k for, in order to make the impatient driver behind me happy.

Lancaster you need to finish what you started!!

Adding over 10 minutes to your commute is better than sitting in traffic for an hour.

As a Bolton resident I'm seeing it'll only be a matter of time before it'll be hapenning in Bolton also. One way to help the problem of traffic and excess wear is to exclude THRU trucking, meaning the trucks simply using it as a short cut. This was proposed once before, I think it's time to reconsider. As far as any economic effect it would have on local business, it would be negligible, thru truckers are not stopping to use local businesses.

I'm fairly certain that it's been explained numerous times that the cost of night paving was not considered in the original project cost. It wil take a couple of days to complete. GO AROUND! People complain if the roads are in bad shape but they can't be inconvenienced for 2 days so it can happen.
