Well, the problem with relying on immigrants to prop up the social security system is that they are so often exploited, and paid so low, that the fraction withheld for social security and medicare taxes is a small sum. This is the fault of the employer. Moreover, people being paid minimum wage aren't able to save much for their own retirement.

The only real solution for this is a coordinated effort to put their foot down and refuse to be exploited. They need to join or form unions, and demand some dignity. If agriculture and the hotel industry can only operate under slave wages, then clearly food and hotel rooms are priced wrong (or there is lots of profit that could be redirected to wages, if there were a strike). Once they are paid more, then their taxes might prop up social security

That is not a valid argument. When I travel to Italy and France and purchase goods, pay room taxes, sales taxes etc, am I then intitled to health care or education for my children?

How many russians do you see protesting in the streets waving their russian flag?

John I don't post here often anymore but I have to agree with you on the anti latino sediment.
However I really wish that some of these super liberal groups would address the issue of human trafficking wherein over 14,000 women and children are trafficked into the united states to be used as sex slaves.but whenever I bring this up I'm called racist.

How in the hell do you think Obama or any other President can seriously bring up amnesty with those Senate elections next year? Obama and pelosi are already dreading those elections because it will be liberals who take the hardest hit!! FACT #2. Even if Obama DID try something as stupid as push an amnesty with un-employment well above 10% and this close to the mid-term elections...it WILL be rejected. Fact #3. The very second they do something as stupid as try and tell an employer what they are NOT going to do then guess what happens?
