Because I was on a trip at that time, and had no access to a TV or a radio, I just found out about the tornado that tore up Northwood.
I am a previous employee (CNA) of Northwood Hospital, in both Basic Care in the Nursing Home area and then a hospital employee from about 1988-1992 or so. This to me wasn't just a job, it was the work I really enjoyed. I enjoyed my patients, mostly Northwood residents, but also the surrounding area.(I had hoped to continue my education, and become an RN, eventually, however, my health took a turn for the worse and working in the Hatton Nursing Home ( in the Night Shift) was, sadly, the end of my career, and working)
My heart goes out to each and everyone that was touched by this disaster. Prayers and good thoughts are being sent your way. I hope each of you will recover from this awful event. I still can't believe this has happened!
I drove each day, or evening I was scheduled there, from my farmstead 3 miles east of Hatton, with my 72 Gold Pontiac.(which hit a deer one morning, on the way to work one early morning)
If someone still works there and remembers me, please know I am praying for all of you. I can't imagine what it would be like to have this happen.(However, I saw my first tornado last year in early May, about 10:30 PM. The next day I contacted the NWS here in North Texas, and a Meteorologist that was in the helecoptor checking the damage path the next day, said in an email sent back to me that my home was only 1 mile from what turned out to be 3 tornadoes that night, which, by the way I was only 2 weeks post-op from my Laminectomy.) He said my home was too close for comfort. The tornado destroyed much of a town to the N/E of where we are living now.
Northwood Hospital, and Basic Care area the staff there taught me a lot about nursing, to add to what I had already knew, that I still retain to this day. I met many people, remember many of the patients, with love. I remember the patients that their time on earth was to be finished. I feel very sad that this awful thing has happened there. Again, please accept my thoughts and prayers as each of the residents of Northwood have much to do in the future, with the clean up and repairs or replacements of your homes, and to come to terms with the losses.
Take care.
D. Karina previous CNA.
Does anyone know how Hatton is after this? Any damage?

Hatton received no damage at all. The Northwood school kids are being bussed to Hatton and Portland for school.

Shortly after I wrote this post about Northwood Hospital and its damage, I received an email from a girl who ( with her family) went to church with us and I believe she also went to school with my daughter, Sharon. Just after I had gotten her email, and I was ready to reply back to her, my computer crashed and I lost all my emails, and since I do genealogy, all my other emails I needed to reply to were also gone. If this girl happens to read the newspaper, or her family, I hope she would write back to me. I really don't want her to think badly of me. If she happens to read the paper, please write back to me. I would like to see how the repairs are going and share with her how Sharon is doing.
Thanks for any help to connect with her again.
Continued prayers for the families affected by that horrible storm.
D. Karina previous CNA at Northwood Hospital, and the Basic Care area in the nursing home.
