Once "Market Manager" - CJ took over last year I was worried that it would turn into a huge failure. She didn't disappoint either, Changing the venue from it's original successful location, might have been a good idea with promotion, but one sign and failing to follow up with advertising obviously was not enough. Then blaming everyone else for not showing up, and more, gave everyone a taste of what CJ has to offer. She is a nut and it's not a surprise people are not showing up to sell at her market.
Fast forward to this season, she has outdone herself again! After several emails that were forwarded to me - one of which said the city was out to "rape" (her exact words) businesses, it was apparent she had gone off the deep end. Let change the farmers market to a Friday night! No wait now its Saturday, no its canceled, ok it's on again. Lets set the time for the HOTTEST time of day! Not in the morning where everyone can come get their veggies then do whatever they had planned for the weekend. NO lets do it when there is no shade, and in the middle of the day... most people have nothing to do on a Saturday right in the middle of the day! Her plan of buying stuff from other farmers markets during the week to sell on Saturday sounded a bit insane... but she managed that too!
I talked to several of the businesses she had listed from last year to see why they were not there this year. Just about everyone said the same thing, "I will not have anything to do with ANYTHING CJ does ever again" and "she can't even get farmers to come so she tried to rename it to something else, she's nuts." Last year she blamed the gas prices as to why farmers and people were not showing up... whats her excuse this year?
I for one cannot wait until she gives this up and someone competent takes this completely over.
If you think it's just "bad luck" for her and the farmers market. Take a look at her latest project of the Fernley Road Map. Ask any of the advertisers if that's what it was supposed to be. Ask them if they will every work with her again.
Well enough of this rant! I have far too much more I can complain about this, I'll just have to wait for her to completely fail before we get a real farmers market back in Fernley again.
