I came back here looking for something new. Seems there is no new information.
There's lots of namecalling, arguing both facts and intent, and predictions about what will or will not happen in court.
The facts are not only in the CalTrans report, but what was left out of the report. The lawsuit alleges violations of law and a failure to adequately investigate the project.
Disagreements about tree roots and logging and resource management can be entertaining, but I don't see a lot of enlightenment here.
There is one fact, however, that is visible to anyone who has known and explored the great Northwest for the past 40 years. The soils and water are damaaged and the environment that makes this place so special is slowly being destroyed. That's what happens when too many people want too much stuff and the only definition of success is money.
Well said Ferndale Grad. The disparaging name calling on this site is almost comical. The R.G. project will now be adequately investigated and researched. As you've related, there's nothing more to discuss on the issue at this point in time.

Have a great Independence Day.

You were doing pretty good there Harry until you started demeaning environmentalists and those who disagree with you.
You're right. Thanks for pointing out that demeaning comments have no place in a civil discourse, which is at times lacking in these electronic based forums. As far a Richardson Grove, my hope is that the project controversy is settled in court and the "winners" and "losers" respect the decision. Personally I think a bypass would greatly benefit the park and traffic routing. Currently with 101 placement through the park there is too much constant traffic for the solitude a park should provide. Most Americans are lucky to be rich enough, in monetary terms, to buy and drive private cars where we want to when we choose (drill baby drill to supply cheap cracked hydrocarbons for private internal combustion engines and the ecological cost to supply our addiction to our private cars is a shared impact by everyone that owns a hydrocarbon fueled car). Lots of private cars at the river yesterday. Mass transit has little appeal when gas is cheap. Redwood Transit service in South Humboldt is a great addition to local mass transit though. More development of electric and hybrid mass transport is a positive move. Trail development in Humboldt County is happening, hopefully in the future will connect North Humboldt with South Humboldt for walking, biking and horse riding. As far as Richardson Grove, only time will tell. Nothing more to say on that issue at the present time.

Hope everyone had a great 4th.

At least there is still money in redwood. Doug fir prices suck though. Are you suggesting that we break out our chainsaws and gunning sticks?

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Scorpio

Today's Lunar Eclipse at the Full Moon stirs up powerful emotions during the next two weeks (as it has done since the Gemini Solar Eclipse last month), and it may not be a very pleasant experience. Are you feeling rather compulsive and obsessive? Financial issues could be a problem,, especially if they appear to threaten your sense of emotional security. Don't let jealousy or envy make you do things that will set other people against you.
