Huntingburg officer injured during pursuit

Yes it is a shame what happen to Officer Byrd! I have lived in Huntingburg for over 20 years and have seen more Police Officers come and go out of this town. Huntingburg has two young Police Officers on the force now Offficer Byrd being the youngest im told. Officer Byrd is highly respected in this small town of Huntingburg its not offten you come accross a young Officer that treats everyone with respect. God Bless you Officer Byrd you are in are prayers. Thank you for your outstanding service to are humble town.!

You can't be serious? More officers come and go?? You need to get real. In the last 10 years besides NORMAL retirement Huntingburg has only lost THREE cops. Two for bigger departments and one for another state.

And as for Officer Byrd.....please. Highly respected...that's a joke.

Officer Byrd is VERY RESPECTED in this community.. For such a young officer he respects everyone in this community.. It's clear to me that you must have been arrested by officer Byrd and he showed you the same respect that you was showing him... It's easy to sit in-front of a computer screen and trash talk a cop as you are doing but I dont see you doing his job. I dont see you respecting and caring enough for people to put you life on the line for you community as officer Byrd does everyday..... DON'T LISTEN TO ALL THE TRASH TALK OFFICER BYRD YOU KEEP ON STRONG...By the way, awsome job capturing the criminal that night evan with your BROKEN ANKLE!! It takes a strong person to do what you did that night.... GOD BLESS!!

Hey H-burgCitizen.......how do you know I'm NOT a cop?? I think Byrd has many of you citizens severely buffaloed. It's pretty bad when all the cops you work with take everything you say with a grain of salt because you are always lying! ;)

I don't know if your a cop or not....but if you are a cop, its pretty sad that you sit around on the internet trash talking a fellow brother.....I have known officer Byrd for years since he grew up in this city. He like to brighten the day for people.He always have stories to tell but there is a defference between telling someone something and letting them belive then telling someone somthing to get a laugh. Officer Byrd has always been the person that could brighten anyones day evan if your having the worst day of your life....sounds to me you feel a little jelous of the youg man......Officer Byrd if you read any of these blogs, it sounds to me that you can't trust your own fellow brothers.Pretty sad!!!!We all love you officer byrd and so does the community keep up the good work..........

Well, all I can say is I'm glad I don't work in the same department he does! And trust me, I have no reason to be jealous of your "little ray of sunshine!" The most honest and trustworthy officer in that department is Tim Mullen. Now there's a guy that will go the extra mile to help you out and brighten your day! Your "little ray of sunshine" could take a lesson or two from him....Enjoy your day!

hey crazy, it's hard for me to reply to your outragious commit. I know exactly what kind of officer you are if you think Tim Mullen is the most honest and trustworthy officer. I can see now why you dont like officer Byrd. Officer Byrd has morals unlike you and Mullen. Officer Byrd treats everyone with respect. Unlike Officer Mullen, if you are a female then you dont get a ticket. If Officer Mullen is so Trustworthy then why is that he has been with the Huntingburg police department for five to six years but yet still has not moved into the city that he works. Boy, thats trustworthy and someone that cares about his community. He can't even move in the community. Crazy you have a lovely day. Say Hi to Mullen for me...GOOD DAY!!!

Well, I can't speak for Mullen and the way he hands out tickets (which by the way I think you're full of crap if you think he only gives them to men). Byrd treats everyone with respect? You simply can't be serious! Do you even KNOW this kid?

And as for Mullen not living in town, apparently you do not know the law. Indiana law says that police officers can live in ANY COUNTY SURROUNDING the jurisdiction that they work. Some cops simply choose to live outside the area they work for safety reasons. For Mullen, it may be he didn't want to take his children out of an established school. Ever think of that?

Back to Byrd. If you think he's king-daddy-cop, maybe you should get the low-down on him from some of the boys over in Pike County.

Ron Drew, Bucky Lehr, Bill Wampler, Christian Gogel, Art Parks, Mullen, Ron Bowman, Anne Williams, and EVEN 'ole Jesus Monarrez are heads and shoulders better at treating the public with respect then your boy Byrd. Good day to you!

I've never dealt with officer Byrd. Personally, I've only had dealings with officer Bowman and Monarrez. They helped me out with a domestic situation that I will forever be grateful for. Thank you if either of you read this.

Crazy, if anyone on the police department is "buffaloing" the citizens of our town, it is Officer Bowman. I have known Officer Byrd for a pretty long time, and I have known him to represent himself as a police officer in a very professional, respectible manner. Wish I could say the same for Officer Bowman. Here's an example... while Officer Byrd is professional and courteous, Officer Bowman acts like a jerk and looks like a slob. I mean seriously, I thought police officers were supposed to be in shape. I have dealt with just about every officer on the department, and Officer Bowman treated me the worst. So buddy, you'd better get a hold of yourself and cut this out. Officer Byrd, if you read this, know that you are the kind of officer that Huntingburg needs. Heck, maybe you could even be chief one day. And Crazy, if you have the connections to the police department that you claim to have, maybe you could work on some of the sub-standard officers down there like Officer Bowman!!

There's more than one out of shape cop in that place! Just about everyone I've seen could push the donuts away.

HPD Supporter, not once did I say I had "connections" to the police department. I just know nearly all of them. In any of my posts, did you see me put Officer Bowman on a platform? Nope. He is out of shape and a jerk. I'm pretty sure anyone will agree with that. I still stand by my comment that Officer Mullen is the most professional officer in that department. Good thing for those "out of shape" officers it takes more then looking good in uniform to do the job and do it RIGHT! So those that don't know what they're doing better get themselves together and cut this out.

I myself have had to call Huntingburg police Department before for minor things such as locking my house keys inside of my house. Since I had no one who has a key that lives close by I called the officers. When they arrived the were the most courteous, kind respectful gentlemen of law enforcement that I have ever encountered.It was a funny situation and I know that they wanted to laugh as I did ,but did not.It is nice to know that we have officers like those in our fine city of H-burg.They will be there for you no matter what the situation.
