What are you suppose to do with strays? I took a beautiful black and white female and her tiny kitten to the ranch about 2 years. It was the Butler Humane Society that told me to take them there as they did not have the space to take any more animals.Even if they will take them it costs you $40 or more. Not right when it not your animal to begin with.

The woman at the Tiger Ranch would not even take $5 from me. All she said was that if I wanted to donate a bag of food that would be okay. And I did see way too many cats there but there were also workers cleaning floors with disinfectant in their garage that housed many caged cats. Finding the place was not easy and riding down from Butler I thought I was doing the right thing rather than dumping the cat and kitty onto someone else property. Now I am feeling bad.

The government wants to get into your life about everything else. Why not taking care of these animals with neutering and spaying to start.

I think it was OK then. Something has happened to the woman. We were there 3 years ago and it seemed OK. On the day we were there they were returning from the vet with a number of cats in their cages. The place was clean and there were lots of cats that seemed well fed and cared for. As I said, something must have happened to the owner to bring about this.

I was also there three years ago to get a stray fixed. I did question Linda about some cats with sore eyes and runny noses, other than that the place seemed well run. Linda had names for every cat and she had the seperated according to how long the had been there, why they were there, the ones that were not being adopted out, etc. She seemed to love them all and want to do what was best. I thought she was doing a great service for these poor misundertand abonded animals. What can be done to help all these creatures of God that humans do not want to take care of, or can not afford to get fixed????

I don't believe in spaying and neutering. First of all, would you want to be spayed or neutered? I wouldn't want to be spayed or neutered and I'm quite certain that if your pets were able to speak, they would say that they didn't want to be spayed or neutered, either. When you think about it, the practices of spaying and neutering sound almost barbaric. And, secondly, if everybody did have their pets spayed or neutered, eventually there wouldn't be any more pets.

P.S. Here's a suggestion: why don't you have yourself spayed or neutered, then you can come back and tell us all about how wonderful spaying and neutering is?

I was at Tiger Ranch in March of last year to bring in two feral cats that Linn said she would take. I paid to have the cats spayed and she demaned they have a distemper shot at least five days before we could bring them into the shelter. She let us roam around as much as we wanted. She seemed to genuinely care about the welfare of the animals. The place was not an ideal environment, it was basic buildings and caged outdoor areas for many of the feral cats. What we saw was a place to give unwanted cats a chance to have some kind of life. There was no mass suffering or disease at that time that we witnessed. This was our second trip there within a month.
I read some of the news reports and here are the facts as I know them: There was no secretive drop-off time. The only time she would accept cats was in broad daylight on Saturday mornings. She informed us the best time to reach her by PHONE was 10:00 pm to midnight. So, there was nothing strange about that.
What I saw was a woman trying to help so many cats. Two shelters pulled up vans while I was there and dropped off 40-50 cats each. The people dropping them off took them out of the vans and basically took off, with no offer to help with anything. Linn Marie took in too many cats and could not provide them all with the care they needed.
To the idiot who does not believe in spaying or neutering - maybe you could hold some of those unwanted cats while they are being euthanized. Watch the life go out of them just so they had a "CHOICE" to reproduce. Do some research on the statistics. Guess what? THERE IS A PET OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM. Millions of cats and dogs are put to sleep each year in this country because of lack of homes. MORON!!!!!

I sent some of my stray cats to Tiger Ranch also believing that they would be happy and safe. I truly believe that Lin Marie at Tiger Ranch meant well. I wish that I could come up with the money she needs to bail out. I think we all should have helped her more financially. I payed her five dollars a cat and I thought that was very cheap. I have many cats myself and it has totally gotten out of hand. I have no idea what to do because I don't have the money to fix them. They keep having babies and babies and more babies. I will be the next Tiger Ranch if I cannot get help. I am on her side. She helped many many people and cats. Now she sits in jail as a criminal. That is so sad. Rebecca

I was also told to call between ten and 12 pm. I was told to bring cats on Saturdays in the afternoon. I believe that Lin Marie was trying to do the best she could for all of the unwanted cats that no one wants. We definitely have an over population of cats everywhere. I know that some people do not spay or neuter their cats. I also know that some people cannot affort to do this. I am one of those people. I have taken in cats off the streets that had no where to go. My choice was to feed them or let them wander outside hungry and thirsty, homeless, without love. I think that our government or at least our city should find a way to spay and neuter all cats, especially, homeless and low income. Now that Tiger Ranch is gone, there is going to be a huge amount of cats wandering the city. Every one of the females are going to have babies and every male is going to get the females pregnant. It is so sad it makes me cry. My heart goes out to Lin Marie and all of the unwanted cats. Rebecca

The animal activists who worked there for 8 months should have done something to help the situation sooner. Linda was trying to do something good and it got out of control. The "humane" officers and organizations took advantage of her and now she is facing charges. I was there 10 months ago and it was clean and there were animal officers taking cats to her. If the undercover activists would not have waited so long they would have saved hundreds of cats. They should face charges. Instead they get on the news and act like they are heros.

are you serious?? you obviously lack information in the importance of spay/neuter for the feral cat community....or I guess you you would prefer to see thousaands of cats running around getting hit by cars and trapped by the wrong people and euthanized..great solution! p.s. and I think we should spay/neuter some people also!

If there were no people like you, there would be little need for shelters and every animal would have a good home. You argue for the reproductive rights of the animal but I wonder if it isn't more about you. No spay/neuter probably also means not vet visits at all which means you don't need to get your lazy a$$ out of the house and you get to spend the money on something really important like beer or cigarettes. I agree with the poster that you need a job in the euthanasia room at the shelter so you can see them die again and again and again. Of course somehow, like the rest of your kind you will find a way to blame the animal and not the person who didn't fulfill their responsibility to GET THEIR PET SPAYED OR NEUTERED

I am spayed and I love it! Even when I could produce offspring, I would max out at two or three, but most likely would have only one at a time! I would also be most likely limited to one each year. Even then, it would take my daughter at least 14 or 15 years to produce offspring.

I don't care how many people oppose me on this issue,I still say that spaying and neutering is wrong. There's no other word to describe it but "wrong" and those who support such atrocities are just as wrong as those who perform them. In all seriousness, what right do we have to determine whether or not an animal has the right to reproduce? Put yourself in the animal's shoes for a moment --- I know that animals don't wear shoes, but you know what I mean. How would you feel in that situation? All I'm saying is that the animal didn't make a conscious decision to have such an operation, the human took it upon himself or herself to play God and that is,in my opinion,an unpardonable sin

Too many people are irresponsible with their pets. They get a free cat from an unwanted litter. They let it roam the neiborhood and it has a litter of unwanted kittens. They claim that they can't afford to get their cat spayed or neutered. The same people can afford to buy cigarettes and beer. In my opinion this is a sin.

FleedeeFlee,

In case you never saw 2 cats having sex, it isn't pretty. And cats can get pregnant up to 4 times a year.

I'm trying to think of a kinder way to say this, but I can't. You are a complete idiot.

It isn't like we're talking about an animal on the endangered species list or nothing. I'm pretty sure there are enough cats to go around.
Every cat I have ever taken in I've had fixed.

This is to Fleedee Flee. Have you never heard of tubal ligation or vasectomy? People get "spayed or neutered" all the time. If people were responsible for their pets, there would be no Tiger Ranch!!! I am guessing you don't have a pet, or maybe you have way too many.

Cat sanctuary defended
Concerning Sunday's news story about the Tiger Ranch Farm sanctuary raid, the news media in Western Pennsylvania have given themselves two huge black eyes.
First, the media reported the story without all the facts. Second, the media have failed to urge people to have their cats and dogs spayed or neutered.
People failed to be responsible pet owners by allowing the cats to multiply, thus creating this problem.
Since I live on a farm in rural Pennsylvania, people constantly are dropping their cats in my driveway without permission.
We had about 40 cats hanging around my house. I told my wife it was time to get rid of the cats, one way or another.
Humane Societies in Western Pennsylvania refuse to take in wild cats, and they want huge amounts of money to take in tame cats.
Humane Societies admit that if they cannot find homes for the adult cats, those cats will be put to sleep.
My wife heard about the Tiger Ranch cat sanctuary, and last fall she went there on three occasions to drop off 30 sick and healthy cats and kittens. I accompanied her on one occasion.
I was very impressed with the way the animal sanctuary was run by Linda Bruno. The place was neat, clean and organized, considering all the cats that were there.
She only took cats on Saturday. The day I was there, a van was waiting to take all the kittens that came in that day to be adopted in Ohio.
I also noticed numerous animal control officers from many municipalities in their uniforms helping out.
Linda told my wife that if she wanted to schedule an appointment on any Saturday, she could take the cats from my farm and have them spayed and neutered for free and return the cats to my farm.
I feel there are a lot of unanswered questions concerning this raid by the Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
While local humane groups have approved of Bruno's operation, I also have a serious problem with the four so-called volunteers who worked "undercover"on the Tiger Ranch for almost seven months.
Clearly, they were not there to help the cats in need. They were more interested in setting up Bruno for this big raid and news story.
The Humane Society had a completely empty shelter in Clarion County. Why was that shelter not taking in cats?
Now that these four women whom I regard as hypocrites shut down the Tiger Ranch, where can we get rid of these unwanted cats?
It is not uncommon to hear about hunters shooting cats because cats kill too many rabbits. Are we going to hear about more cats being shot by hunters because there is no place left to take them? Are we going to hear about more cats being run down on the roads and streets because there is no place to take them?
Bruno is not a criminal. She might have taken in more cats than she could handle, but that is no crime, and I am demanding that Allegheny County release her from jail and apologize to her.
If Allegheny County is unwilling to release her, my wife and I are willing to donate $100 to her legal defense fund.

Once upon a time, there lived a puppy (kitten) and he (she) couldn't wait until he (she) grew up and had kids of his (her) own. Oh boy! I can't wait until I have kids of my own! was all that the puppy (kitten) ever thought about. Every year,as he (she) got older,he (she)'d dream about the moment when he (she) would finally be able to have a family. Finally, the big day arrived: the puppy (kitten) was,at last,a dog (cat)! However,it was also the day that his (her) owner said "Come on,let's go for a nice ride in the car!" The dog (cat),thinking that it was just a chance to get out of the house, eagerly ran to the waiting vehicle and jumped inside. Unbeknownest to him (her),his (her) owner went to the vet where he (she) was spayed (neutered). After that, the dog (cat) fell into a deep depression --- each day was darker and bleaker than the last. If only I had a gun the dog (cat) thought to himself (herself) but,of course,he (she) didn't so he (she) was forced to live out the rest of his (her) existence a mere shell of his (her) former self, constantly ridiculed and taunted by all of his (her) former friends, and praying every day for a quick end to his (her) inner pain.

Cancer

If you thought yesterday was fraught with tension the temperature rises a few notches again today, as Mars turns retro in your house of finances and values. What's eating you? Maybe you're annoyed because your spare time is being eroded by duties that are weighing heavily on your shoulders. You might also be miffed by the flippant attitude of a certain person who you think should be taking life a lot more seriously. Calm down or you'll blow a gasket.
