Full story: InYork

For the past five years, Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown mulled over the idea of dropping its affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

And yet the mainlines persist in pushing their liberal garbage. I can't believe more churches don't leave the mainline denominations.

Not all of the mainlines are pushing "liberal garbage." The Southern Baptists and LCMS are two that are not.

You may be surprised how many families have moved away from church groups that are endorsing the inclusion of gays.

I left the ELCA in 2008 for a large Christian mega church that holds homosexuality is still a sin of enough gravity that those engaged in it should not be leading worship. Leaving my childhood faith at age 55 was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but when Bishop Mark Hanson took away my vote in this matter, what choice did I have?

I feel like my ALC Lutheran Church was stolen away from me in 1988 and I hope those responsible every step along the way burn in hell. That would be Biblical.

You may view homo sexuality in many ways. You can see it as a birth defect or a learned behavior. There is no way to interrupt the bible that makes gay relationships acceptable. Gay is a social issue, that unfortunately is more acceptable today than it has been in the past. With the dissolution of the family unit, we as a society are slowly losing our morals and values. Our grand parents separated from Lutheran Church for this exact reason. My mom, aunt and uncle’s families also switched, along with their kids. All considered, 17 people became Catholic. The Catholic church has its problems, but it seems less venerable to this issue.

LCMS is an alternative choice.

Isn't it pathetic that these right-wing extremists base their religious faith on homophobia, paranoia, and Republican values?

Yes, I'm sure that's exactly what Christ intended for His Church

The Southern Baptists founded their denomination on the preservation of slavery. The LCMS believes in predestination and that the Earth is only 6000 years old.

There is nothing "mainline" about either of those denominations.

In other words, Conservative Mark was brainwashed into following the false prophet of a megachurch. Those of us in the ELCA are very happy to see people like Conservative Mark leave. We have no use for him, and he is of no positive value to us.

Isn't it sad that some people are so pathetic as to base their entire faith on homophobia?

You seem very happy to separate yourself from other church members because they believe in what the bible says. The bible says gay is wrong, simple as that. You have the right to disagree. I guess you count yourself as one who voted change what the bible says about gays so you could be included. Clearly your bitter by this and your other posts. You must admit 91 to 1 is hardly close. Live a gay lifestyle if you want, but respect those that want nothing to do with you. Homophobia, no one is afraid of gays, we just don’t want to be associated with them. You seem so desperate to be included, I feel sorry for you.

Christ's teachings are written in the bible, so it would seem this is exactly what he intended for His Church, to bad that dosent include you.

You realize that up until about 15 years ago being gay was considered a mental disorder? I am aware of (2) separate studies to “correct” or “fix” being gay. One involves University of California, San Diego neurobiologists using surgery, the other is drug therapy to fix what is consider a “chemical” imbalance. Hopefully in time, science will be able to help these poor souls so they can enjoy a normal life.

Here’s a question for you gay liberals. Would you advocate a women aborting a fetus if she could tell the child would turn out gay?

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Gemini

This is a good time to take stock of your actions and the direction you're going in. Are your efforts getting you anywhere or leading you astray and scattering your energy? If you're putting in the work but not moving forward, you're not on track. The old adage 'cut your coat according to your cloth' is good advice. Be simple and purposeful and don't waste time with things that get no practical results.
