My family moved to Fayetteville nearly 3 years ago. I recently learned that our mayor and council are in trying to sell our water system to WV Water. I do not understand this. Our rates are a little high, but we have good water and can call if we have a problem. WV Water is a profit company that could care less if we have a problem. I have been told that our rates will be cut, but I believe any cuts will be offset with other fees and that we will be paying much more for water in the future if they buy it. We get to vote before they can sell it, so I hope everyone will see through all the lies they will tell us - AND VOTE NO!!

Jim Murdock is running for mayor as a WRITE IN. He did a good job before and would do a good job again. I have been told that he does not support selling the water to WV Water. The election is comming up soon, so think about him if you want to keep our water! |

I have lived in Fayetteville for 7 years with water pressure that sucks. I have complained several times and even attended a water board meeting. They sat there and listened and acted like they cared, but that was 2 years ago and they still have not done anything about it. The problem is that there is a 1" main line supplying 12 houses and I am the next to the last on the line. I cannot run water in two places at once. When I attended the water meeting 2 years ago, they said that they did not have the money and that the recent rate hike was for issues like mine. That was two years ago. I think they are full of crap, mayor included. At least with a large water company, we will have a water system that is up to the standard. Fayetteville is too broke fixing important people's water problems. The people sitting on the boards' have good water pressure and don't know what it is like to not be able to do nothing while there is a load of laundry in the washer.

I am sorry to hear that you have had problems with your water pressure, but there is no way to know if it would be any better if the water system is sold. What is for sure is that our rates would be alot higher because WV Water is a profit company that is trying to get a 25% increase on top of their high rates. If your problem is not being fixed, you should contact the Public Service Commission and ask for their help. I hope our water system is not sold and I wish you the best of luck in getting your problem taken care of. |

I read in todays paper about the mayor and council voting for them a big pay raise. May be they are not fixing problems with water so they can sell it. Think about it.
You are right, they are probably using the problems as a crutch to sell the system. My issue is that I pay the same per gallon as everyone else, yet I do not have the quality pressure like they do. I wanted to expand my house with a master bedroom and bath combo, but it would do me no good; I would not have the pressure for added pipes. How do they expect Fayetteville to grow and be prosperous when they will not fix the water system? |
I believe the town is deliberately ignoring complaints so everyone will get mad and vote to sell the water system. I certainly hope that they are not successful and that they are made to pay for what they are doing. |

The town is painting our fire hydrants to match the color of WV Water. Why would they do this unless they are positive about selling our water? I thought we were supposed to get to vote on selling it. Does anyone know what is going on?

Disappointed, residents of Fayetteville for a mere 3 years, don't try to run things like Yankees in Charleston. Leave it to the true locals and natives.
You must mean the Native Americans then? Surely, you would not imply your generation has lived in the Fayetteville area ever since New River was a creek would you? :-) |

LOVE IT! |

vote for Murdock. It would have been nice if he won the county commission seat to get rid of the retarded azz Ken Eskew. Eskey makes 40 grand a year to meet at the courthouse 1 day a month. how did that work out that way huh?

maybe to pay for the lawsuit in the police dept the town had to pay for.Cannot believe they kept him, that mayor is rediculous.
I heard it was 25.000 the town paid out on a sexual suit because of the chief.Thats stupid they should have gotten rid of him.
