I have Koi and I would suspect predators and not thieves. Coons, Cats, Owls etc. are pretty hungry this time of year and those fish are easy targets. Good luck - I feel your pain I lost all my Koi last year due to my own stupidity.

We saw a fish crane in our yard and shortly afterwards our Koi were all gone. After that we haven't seen the Crane. At first we were sure that we to were ripped off but then we remenbered the Crane.

There are no "fish cranes" for lawds sake. There are a gazillion Great Blue Herons around in every wet spot in the County. They can easily eat their body weight in fish each day. They specialize in quick raids on garden ponds. How silly for someone to call the police in this matter. Once a blue moon, a Sandhill crane may fly near Chambersburg, but I really doubt it. No Whooping cranes are around at all.

I had a former neighbor whose Koi fish were eaten by a Blue Heron. She got in touch with Pa. extension office who helped her plan for the new ones.
