There only dumb if they know and do it anyway in this case it seems they didnt know. I thinks its a lesson to parents to make sure your kids know what plants are bad. Kids are not dumb or idiots, they are a product of their in enviroment.

Sheesh, treet ALL plants as bad unless someone you trust tells you otherwise (still not sure about eggplants myself >_> )

I'd be looking for the person that told them that it was edible...perhaps they heard something in a class and misunderstood?

They were eating it trying to get high. It's a hallucinogen. Look up this plant on google and you'll see.
