Should Incoming First Lady Michelle Obama Get Paid?

Absolutely! She will still remain a 'career woman' being involved in various political, charity affairs. The fact that her husband is US Pres. should not affect whether she gets paid. The only way she can be labeled as a stay-at-home Mom is the fact that she works from her home.(Just as some of you and I do as working Moms.) We get paid!

Why should she get a salary when all the others have not? What makes her more special? First ladies have always had the benefit of riding on her husband's coattails, planning extravagant parties, having the best Christmases, entertaining the topdogs from everywhere...PLEASE! This country is already in a financial crisis! ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?! Let's definitely make it worse! Having Obama as president is going to be enough to put this country into the crapper...see what he is doing already? The moslem claiming to be a Christian acting in the best interests of this country!??! What a joke

Wow! I'm glad YOU are not the President's wife. Your answer to my question is understood even tho I don't agree with but your remaining comments depict your shortsightedness or that you have been terribly misinformed. First of all, he has proven that he is not Muslim (please check your spelling); if you are a'Christian' you will give him the benefit of the doubt (that you have); he has been in office very few days; lastly, the Bush kid left a terrible mess for whomever would assume the presidency. For goodness sake, give the man a chance. Again, thank God you're not in office!

I am indeed a Christian, and I am indeed not fooled. I have NO CHOICE but to "give him a chance" as he is already the president whether I like it or not, in case you hadn't realized that. I CLEARLY have my doubts to his behavior and his FIRST day in office already has proven me right...if YOU are a Christian, check that out. He couldn't wait to re-enact a bill backing the finance of abortion with MY tax dollars being given to OTHER COUNTRIES in fact! Is this country...this government, in fact, not operating in a deficit!?!? I am just astounded! He SAYS he is not MUSLIM (Better? God forbid that YOU might hit a wrong key and not catch it. Sorry to offend you so!) and yet you all have not caught on to the biggest lie of that little story. What name was he born with? I guarantee you it was not Barrack Obama. He CHANGED it when he changed religion. If he changed back to Christian, why would he had not given that up? I am not snowed. The man will wreak havoc, and he already screwed up his chance with me. This country is a mess for the godless beliefs that are extremely prevalent. I find it funny that a large group of society condemns Bush for putting actions behind his words and you all cheered when Hussein was found, but didn't bother to be offended when our marines were murdered in their beds overseas by a terrorist and Clinton did NOTHING. I find that offensive and took the time, by the way, to write a line to Bill and tell him so. I foresaw BEFORE Obama went in office Christianity and a host of other things burned at the stake, and he is so far proving me right. My husband says, "You just HAVE to be right, don't you?" And I say, "No, I don't have to be right, but it's funny how it keeps turning out that I am, huh?" Well, you don't know that and you don't know my predictions. BTW, if I WERE PRESIDENT, this place would whip into shape. Our people would be looked after first, and budget cuts would start with number one. I would be a blessing to this country. People would bitch, but they always do. A grip needs to be gotten on this over-spending and no lee-way is given to us plain joes, it shouldn't be given to the government either. i agree that she shouldnt get paid, but not for the same reason as the above poster. since she is more educated and professional than prior 1st ladies, i expect she wont be putting so much emphasis on 'planning extravagant parties, having the best Christmases, entertaining...'as have 1st ladies in the past. i'm sure she'll be working hard.
she sdnt get paid because of all the fury and stupid flack that will come out of obama haters. i think the obamas can easily live on a prez salary. i'm sure that MO has no objections for working the next 7 years without pay.

Some First ladies get paid, some do not. It depends on which activities she decides to participate in. If there is a government related activity that she qualifies for that would normally draw a salary, then there is no reason why she shouldnt be reimbursed for her efforts.
