You think that requiring every citizen to carry their birth certificate at all times or be subject to arrest will prevent racial profiling and protect our freedom but you disagree with requiring a person who does not speak English, is acting nervously, is a member of an ethnic group known for being in the country illegally and has come to the attention of a police officer because they are suspected of breaking a non-immigration law to provide documentation to police when requested. again showing just how foolish this gets and the nonsense illegal aliens and their supporters keep pushing. fact is they think do to someone being hispanic the cops should look the other way on all crimes so they will not get caught for being an illegal alien.

The nonsense is when you have people suggesting that all American citizens have their civil rights violated to prevent the remote possibility that a LEO would violate the civil rights of a few individuals. Which as we all know is illegal and would result in the LEO going to prison. Not exactly the best place for a racist LEO to end up.

If you are in America, obey the law. If you are here illegally, get legal, or go home, with or without the help of local and federal help. Period. There are no 'civil rights' being violated when the person is here ILLEGALLY...does the word 'illegal' mean anything to your pea brain? Back to the point of the article. These 'check points' are already registered. The Federal Agencies can participate if they so choose. They are welcome. Period. The bottom line? If you have nothing to hide, you'll come out smelling like a rose. If you have something to hide? Perhaps, just perhaps, you'll be held accountable. And, face the consequences of that STUPID choice. Obey the law and you'll have nothing to fear, or fight. We're right you know...live with it. Get used to it. It's a fact. It's happening and it's not going to change because we, as legal Americans have the law and the constitution on our side. You? Blither away. Fight for the right to be in our country ILLEGALLY. You haven't any rights. What rights do the Federal Officers have? Hmmm...me thinks they have the United States of America's constitution, Federal law to stand on. That might hold a little more water than your whining about 'civil rights' being violated. You MUST be a CITIZEN to claim those rights. So, my advice? Obey the law. You have nothing to fear. Want to be a US citizen? Do what every other 'LEGAL' immigrant has done since the conception of this country. OBEY THE LAW. Not a hard concept. IT'S THE LAW.

I agree that people must be citizens or have the necessary documentation in order to stay here. The next logical question is how do we determine if someone is legal. Is a driver's license enough? If not, then what? Not all illegal immigrants have brown skin, so just demanding documentation from them does not solve the immigration issue. And the majority of people with brown skin are citizens. Why should they have to meet a higher standard of identification than those of us who are white? There lots to consider in trying to solve illegal immigration, and so far, we have only targeted people we think may not be citizens based on their appearance. Not too smart, really. Again, I repeat--maybe all citizens should be required to provide proof of citizenship on demand. And while we're at it, prosecute the business owners who hire illegals. If there were no jobs, the number of illegals would decrease significantly.

Since a few states NM among them issue drivers licenses to illegals, using that as ID would not suffice, not to mention that non-drivers don't have one. They have always bandied about a universal federal ID that if instated could if the conditions of obtaining them require the proof, allow LEO proof of citizenship and proof of eligibility to vote. That would lay to rest all the hue and cries of profiling and voter disenfranchisement. That ID's time have come to fruition with all the citizenship proof and voter ID laws that the feds keep killing off. BUT, don't look for any new law or regulation to hinder illegals looking legal or non-citizens trying to vote to happen with this administration, They have bought and paid for the illegal vote for the upcoming election and will not do anything to lose that vote.
