Anyown know anything about these people/ I just got a call from them asking for a donation. They're pretty pushy. The call came from the Philipine Islands. They're claiming that there's a huge food crisis on the rez right now and they're the ones who are going to take care of it. It sure sounds like another fraud to me.

Actually, I think I've answered my own question. In looking at their Form 990, which they graciously link to, it's clear that it's just another enterprise set up to collect huge amounts of money for Native Americans and never deliver any goods or services. They collected $21Million in '05 and spent virtually every penny either trying to collect more (their postage ran $10Million+) or compensating the owners.

It's a shame, but it just keeps happening.

Answer your phone and peope will tug at your heart strings telling you about the starving elderly, children, animals, count ries......... or the abused and yes all you have to do is give them a credit card number and your heart can feel good about the hundreds you can help. I am not a vindictive person but I believe there is a special section of hell for the people who pull these types of scams.

Next time tell them you are already in another fraudulence scheme called taxation where 35% of your income is taken from you. Your reward is you get to call yourself a proud taxpayer and you make sure the Navajo adhere to your contribution.

Unfortunately now, the US Government isn't going to fund Navajo, rather the US will be granting relief to illegitimate interests such as Islamism, La Razaism, and grants/money to allow your daughter/son to live their lives comfortably in being Gay or trannies.....all this thanks to ol'Nancy and Obama.....Navajo is the last thing you should worry....

Can people in this forum actually answer the first posted question without insulting race? Those who can't deserve to be burned by any scam.

Back to the real topic raised here...I too got a call from the Navajo relief fund. Always require them to send official mail, with the company letter head. No matter what they reply just say you will only consider it after properly researching their company...bottom line.
Then look them up on the BBB web site. This charity is reported as a group that will not report to the BBB Wise Giving department which means they are not willing to show transparency in regard to how they allocate funds. They basically have freedom to change their rules at anytime which makes them very questionable.

I got a call from them about a month ago. I swear, I thought this was a joke at first because some of my friends and family know how I feel about hardworking taxpayer money going to the natives. Well, the winch on the other end of the phone got an earful from me! She went on about the poor natives on the reservation having a lack of food. I told her that they needed to got get jobs and buy their food like the rest of us. She told me that there were no jobs in the area. I told her what a bunch of crap that was and that getting a native to show up for a job is the hard part. Yes, she was pushy. I told her that enough of my hard-earned money already went to the rez and I was certainly not going to CHOOSE to give more! I went on to say that if there was a lack of food then why the he** did the tribe use money for a junket to Hawaii? She finally gave up on me.

UH......are you joking? You know nothing of hardworking taxpayer dollars going in HUGE chunks to Native Americans? Of free government health care, or free college, of free food, free housing, and plain old pick-up-your-monthly-free-payc heck just because you are born native? Where have you been living?

That's OK. I am sure even Jesus gave up on you long ago. If you're a Christian, you had better start praying that salvation is through grace, not good works, although to be honest, you don't come off as doing too well in the "grace" dept. either.

If salvation has anything to do with work, then I suppose there won't be many natives in heaven.

Hi, ummm...I'm Native American. Where do I sign up for all this free stuff? I really hate do hate paying thousands of dollars for college tuition & associated materials (i.e. books), expensive as heck rent in Tempe, having to buy groceries, and paying for accumulated medical bills. Where have YOU been living? Because I want to move there. I bet where you're at, the government doesn't spend large sums of "hard earned tax payer money" bailing out homeowners who don't know a lick about personal finance and coporations who got too greedy and ended up paying for it, huh? I bet they don't even keep portions of your check to pay for a retirement fund you probably won't be able to benefit from (it's called Social Security here). The government where I live spends lots of hard earned tax payer money for what seems like unworthy causes. But on second thought, maybe it isn't too bad what my government is doing? I know they do it because they they want to make my country as prosperous and safe as possible (although they don't always achieve that). I kinda like this place I live...defintely better than Darfur, Zimbabwe, North Korea, Iraq, or Afganistan.
