Sexual orientation enters 3rd Congressional race

This is absolutely disgusting. I like Benny Shendo but he should be ashamed of himself. It doesn't matter what Ben Ray's sexual orientation is and bringing it up is a move of a desperate man. I think this has actually backfired because it's inspired me to volunteer for Ben Ray's campaign. Say goodbye to your credibility, Benny!

Who cares??? AS long as he can do the job that he is elected for..Who gives a crap is he is gay or straight?? Sounds like Shendo is grasping at straws to take a few votes from Lujan.

Why does everyone think they have the right to ask if a person is gay? Why is it your business? Enough already-as long as the person can do the job, I don't care who they sleep with.

This is awful, why would someone make such statements. I would not vote for Shendo he sounds desporate to me. slinging mud is not proper behavior for a canidate to respresent the people of New Mexico.

So, what do you do......when you have a politician that is straight and married, but sleeps around? That's deception, too, right?

I guess it's ok to be immoral and deceptive, just as long as it's not with the same sex?

What if I drink Miller Lite because it, "Tastes Great," but in reality, I'm drinking it because,"It's less filling!" ???

How cheap is that? What difference does it make? This Shendo is a sleaze... if he cannot win on his own traits, his own goals, on his own record or ideas, and has to rely on dirty republican tactics, then I say "blah".... The last thing this state needs is another "Wilson"... What a liar, that he has been approached but the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, and by members of Lujan's own family is "Horse Manure".. He knows it. Its a desperate attempt by a desperate man. I will not vote for this man. I cannot, we should not. We need to stick to the issues... Let the Republicans sling the mud.... This is how the Democrats lose and cannot get it together.... Cheap... I hope Karma bites you Shendo.....

My gawd just get over it who cares. Benny Shendo has no credibility. I was not planning to vote in the primary but I will now and my vote will go to Ben Lujan Jr.

I am sick of all the character assassination and negative political messages. I need to put gas in my car, food on my table and keep my job. When will we stop all this nonsense and get back to the real issues at hand?

Who cares if Ben is gay or not, have you seen any of our elected officials walking under a ‘halo?’

Just one last note.. I'm not from AR... LOL.. but everyone should go to Mr. Shendo's web site and let him know that his tactics are cheap...Focus on the real issues, of Iraq, high gas prices, food, unemployment, crime, education. What about these Mr. Shendo?.. What about these....?

Sexual orientation has no effect on a person's ability to do a job - unless their behavior makes it an issue, or efforts to hide it compromise their positions on real issues.

I could care less what Mr. Lujan's lifestyle is. All some people can do is keep on trying to make issues out a mole hill and as long as he can do a good job it should be no ones business what he does in his "Private Life"!

Maybe this is Shendos way of getting out of the race. We can say that he was beat because of his prejudice, not his own record. Sounds like he is cutting his own throat. Maybe he should take his big accusations and leave the race before the primary??
One thing about it, Lujan should get lots more attention from the ones that have not decided who they are voting for..Wish I could vote up there... Lujan it is....

I suspected that Shendo had some competence issues, but this is outright DUMB! If he and/or his campaign advisor(s) came up with a stupid tactic like this, it is a reflection of his character and his serious lack of judgement! Shendo has ruined any political potential he had!

Shendo - you deserve what you are getting for making an absolute fool of yourself - my vote is now for Lujan!

I'm not gay, but I am a proud Native American, raised on the values of respect and tradition that Benny says he practices, but obviously does not.

I have known Benny Shendo for a long time and never had a problem with him.
However, I also never knew that he was such a disgustingly petty and desperate man.

You are not perfect, Benny Shendo, and I am sure that your family and your clan are not too proud of you at the moment for what you've done.

For someone who claims that he is about 'respect' and 'bringing people together' you sure are not practicing what you preach.

And if you're SOOO concerned about the GLBT community and 'their' alleged feelings of deception, that you had to try to take the face away from another man and his family, then why is there no mention of GLBT people in your 'significant experience working with EVERY segment of New Mexico’s diverse demographic' statement on your website?

As a matter of fact...you don't mention them at all, so I doubt that their community approached you in the first place.
