I think it was an awesome magazine, until they started charging for it. It's not worth buying.

I agree. Fairly decent local rag, but definitely not worth spending money to read.

It's a clear case of greed. Those advertisers pay out the backside for their advertising. Even the "Featured Business" has to pay massive cash for their write-up which is nothing more than a semi-cleverly disguised advertisement.

I wouldn't pay for the magazine on these grounds alone, not to mention that most of the time it's crap!

Add to that the fact that the owner of the rag is unreliable and often breaks promises to his advertisers, you've got yourself a losing situation.

That's a shame they are charging for the magazine. The owners do realize print is dead...? Long live the Internet.

I think it is a beautifully done advertisement for those willing to pay for it! However, the "editor" has contacted me on 2 occasions once concerning photography and again on a "feature" story...yet he never follows up and/or follows through.I found him to be very unprofessional.
I wasn't interested in "donating" my talents for free or to simply have my name mentioned in the credits....
Seriously tho who buys it anyway?

Personally, I love the magazine and how it represents the area. It elevates us and makes us all look good. I am sure the people who own the magazine and provide jobs to the area are doing the best they can in this bad economy. I subscribe to the magazine even though it is tossed on my lawn for free just to help them keep doing what they do.

What does the owner have to do with the price of eggs. I've met her and she is a nice lady.

I agree too. Their sales rep came by my place of business and wanted tons of money to advertise. They didn't take no for an answer and was very rude about it.
You must be a competitor of this magazine. The owner is nice and the magazine is very well done.

I see it in Walmarts all the time. I am sure someone's other than me is buying it or Walmart wouldn't have it on it's sheleves. I love it and hope it stays going forever.

Gee. For not following up or following through they put out a nice product. Being a business owner myself, I am sure they are professional given the quality of the product.

Being a small business owner in Farmington I can tell you that hater comments always come from competitors. I have watched the magazine grow from nothing and I am always amazed at how it has grown. I would love to know how you've come to know so much about their business?

My name is Denelle Smugala. I am the Publisher of the 573 Magazine. I'm sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately, free magazines are a great place to start. But good magazines never linger there. You can view our free digital edition at 573mag.com . It has the current issue and back issues. Plus some bonus material not in the hard copy.
